an unlucky day

i am a master and before long, iwill be a doctor .but i have begun my topic,because i haven't any instrument .teacher urge me to post an article this year ,but i haven't do any experiment at all . recently ,i became to do some experiment usint other's instrument .it is so unconvinent that i have no activity . today i want to do some work in my lab .but unlucky ,i made the instrument out of work . how could i find the effective way ?should i give up like some body around me ?
