I am not a fond of riding a taxi. If I have my own way I rather ride in a jeepney and save my money. But when I am with the kids and the sun is really hot or if it will rain I can't refuse my kids. Do you ride always a taxi? I am just wondering what's that plus P10 from the amount all about. Where will it go? Is it a taxi tax?lol

i only ride a taxi whenever my girlfriend and i go out together, when the weather goes bad or whenever there are emergencies. riding a taxi guarantees a safe and a much faster way to reach the place you want to go, especially when there are emergencies, which jeepneys cannot provide. but usually i prefer riding a jeepney which is much cheaper than riding a taxi because it can help a lot in saving money. for me riding a jeepney is a lot of fun cause you get to see different kinds of people everyday. i think the plus P10 in taxis are just like in jeepneys wherein there is an increase in fair. i don't think it is a taxi tax.

Well, here in my area... i would only ride the taxi if i am going to the airport... since jeepney don't really go to that area... and i usually have a big luggage with me... so with everyday transportation... i just use the jeepney because they are way cheaper... and more accessible...
But when i am in Manila... and i don't really know how to go to a particular area... i usually just ride a taxi... and tell them that i am in a hurry so that they won't try to go places just to add to the money meter... if they take me there fast... i usually give a 20 peso tip... but if they don't i will just give them what the money meter says...

That's the disadvantage of riding a taxi if you don't know the place you want to go because some abusive drivers tend to go to the different route just to have additional fare. I am from the province so when I go to Manila I really ride on a jeepney or bus and MRT. Before leaving the house, I see to it that I have the list of where to ride and stop over so that I may not be lost and become a victim of no conscience drivers.

Riding a taxi is very convenient. You could go to a place faster and more comfortable. Although it is quite more expensive than riding by jeepney. I usually ride a taxi whenever I'm in a hurry for a meeting, or have a lot to carry that it's not convenient to ride in a jeepney. I also ride a taxi almost everyday when I was still working in Laguna, if I wake up late and I need to catch for our shuttle bus.
With regards to your question on the additional 10 pesos, that has been implemented few months ago and was approved by the LTFRB. This additional fee was approved when the oil prices was still high.

Hello there, yes, i do sometimes ride the taxi but most of the time, i ride jeepney cheaper. Because i am living in the subdivision which very far from the city and there's rare motorcycle passing by and the jeepney is on the highway i need to walk few kilometers so when i am hurrying and im getting late from school and it's raining, i called the taxi. Happy posting.

Before, I always ride in a taxi because it was safe but after the incident where some taxi drivers' harrass their passengers so I switched to jeepneys. Besides that the P 10 was really a big impact for passengers like me. The ten pesos is like a fare increase but the approach was different.^^,

Yeah I too cannot refuse my son for not riding the taxi. Well I guess they are a necessary evil for living here in the metropolis. But if I were to travel I would choose Jeepney to in going to my place of work.
Well the Additional P10 is done because the LTFRB would not want to tamper the meter by just adding P10 to the initial flag down. It would take them sometime to really adjust each and every taxi in the metropolis.

I do ride a taxi if i need to rush, but i prefer to ride the jeep, mrt, lrt and bus. The additional P10 is part of the meter reading but since they don't want to have their meter be changed or reformatted or collaborated - correct me if i'm wrong, they just use that sticker to tell everyone about it.

Ahh ok! I find this funny and irritating as well. I guess they better tell the passengers beforehand so that we will not get into trouble.lol. I am a good payer but when I find some rules not acceptable I really fight.haha. When I ride a taxi I only look at the meter so it surprise me to know there is still additional P10 per ride. oh oh!

i would take an fx instead of taxi. they charge too much. imagine, when i was with my mom and daughter and we're going to st luke's for our medical exam. the driver told us that he's an "airport taxi". he charge way too much. from pasay to st luke's in ermita...he wanted to charge us like P5,000. no f***** way!!! i took the plate number of the taxi and reported it to ltfrb. nothing really happened. that's why i never believed in our government and how they run it. people can get away with anything

Hello shar! I've heard about it. Airport taxi's ask too much. I wonder if they commit a violation with that. If they are airport taxi they should not collect excessive fares if they are not going in the airport direction. And why is it that they ask large amount if one goes and comes from the airport? Do they really think that all passengers there are dollar earners? I don't know if our government ever notice this scenario. We'll most of them have cars to fetch and take them to the airport, so how would they know? Commom people are usually the victims. And no matter what we do, we only end up grating out teeth with anger because no action will be done by the gov't.

Hello lou! Here in the Philippines, the usual means of transportation aside from taxi, cars, buses and trains are jeepneys. It is more cheaper compared to those I mention earlier. It is one kind of public utility vehicle that you can see only in the Philippines. It can carry 20 passengers/ride. It has a driver and conductor(a collector of fares in a public conveyance)to facilitate the whole ride. You can search for a jeepney picture at Philippine websites or other search engines. Thanks!
