My oldest son will be eleven next month. I drink coffee about every other day, sometimes more, sometimes less. Well anyway my son is always wanting a cup for himself. I don't think he's ready to drink coffee yet, so I will put a little bit of coffee in a cup and add alot of milk. I let him have this about once a week. In a few years when he gets older I will probably let him if drink a more stronger cup if he really wants to. So how many of you out there let your kids drink coffee???

Kids should not drink coffee. It is not good for health.Even elders should avoid coffee.Tea is comparitively better than coffee.Every body knows that coffee contains cafine which is not good for health.

Um yeah, tea has caffeine in it too... and caffeine is actually very good for you, if you suffer from migranes as I do... I've actually been prescribed pills with caffeine in them before, and had the doctor tell me to drink a lot of strong coffee.

There is nothing wrong with kids drinking coffee just as long they dont drink more that a cup.
When my kids were young they drank it too. Now my grandson that is 9 loves coffee. When he come to my house he always drinks a cup with the flavored milk in it. My husband and I drink coffee every day in the morning in the afternoon and in the evening. We like our coffee.

I am not a parent yet, so I don't officially have any kids to give coffee too. But remisniscing back into the olden days, I remember my parents gave me the freedom to choose why type of beverage that I wanted to drink for myself. I remember I first took coffee when I was about 9 years old. I tend to like the coffee aroma a lot, and I drank coffee about twice or thrice a week in the mornings before going to school. Honestly speaking, I don't think coffee will have any bad side effects on kids if they drink coffee moderately, and it is the parents' responsibility to ensure that their kids don't "overdrink" coffee. I never encountered any problems drinking coffee as a child, so I guess it should be an OK thing to do. But if you want to restrict your child from coffee, make sure you have a strong reason to do that.

Hey hey
Hey hey when i was a kid i always wanted to drink coffee like my parents and when i tried it i didnt like it all that much . yep so much milk and sugar . and then when i was in high school like a jr i would once in awhile have a black cup of it and then they had this flavor things at the store and that tasted more like a cocoa . I only started when i moved out of my parents house and it is the first thing i start my day with and just love and adore . i think for kids it is okay in very small doses .

I started drinking coffee at 4, courtesy of my grandmother, who let me put whatever sugar or milk into it I wanted. I am at this moment missing my usual morning cup...

Unless your child has a problem handling caffeine I wouldn't worry about it. Both of my kids used to pick up my coffee cup and drink it and when they got old enough to ask for it I gave it to them within limits. I never had any problems and thy are both adults now and yes the both are coffee drinkers. I would rather have them drinking coffee than overloading on soda.

what my gran used to do with me is add sugar and a little bit of coffee to sum milk. then she used to microwave it until it was just the right temperature to drink. this makes a really milky drink but still has the taste of coffee. if you dont want to give him coffee at all, you just pretend that he has got the smae as what you have got, if that would work

I don't think decaf coffee is as bad as sodas(colas)for children.
After all it does have antioxidants in it which sodas don't. You
can add cream and a small amount of sugar and it is as good as hot chocolate.
without all the carbs.
I sometimes add the powdered hot chocolate to my coffee to make a cup of mocha.
It's not the coffee that is bad for the kids its the caffeine and they drink that
in tea and sodas. I would give it to my kids if they had wanted to drink it but my children never wanted it. My grandson likes it with the chocolate in it but he doesn't drink it often because his mom nor dad like to drink coffee so they never make it. I do when I visit them but I use decaf. Funny how a cup of coffee can make a kid feel and even act more grown up. Guess they think it's for grown-ups only...
Have a nice cup of java and relax on those cold days of winter coming up.

I personally dont see a problem with children drinking a little coffee, he may get a little hyper. My 3 kids have all tried coffee. they are 14, 16 and 20 now but they were younger when they tried it. They are all healthy. Of course if you dont think your son is old enough you shouldnt let him drink it.

oh man, this is a tough one for me to answer bc I don't have kids of my own, but I do have a cousin who'se just about to turn 12, and if your kid was my own, I'd smack him and tell him that he's not allowed to drink that.
You should know better than to give coffee to an 11 year old. First of all I find coffee quite addictive, and if he asks for it, I'm thinking he must really like the taste and smell of it, so that's a plus on getting him hooked on it.
I'm close to being 23, and I love coffee, but out of principle I avoid it, bc it only has harmful effects on you and your body. If you let him keep it up, he'll end up like my uncle who goes in withdrawls if he has less than 10 cups a day.
Read online about the effects of caffeine at an early age, and simply sit hom down and explain these things to him.

I am a kid by the way. And i don't drink coffee much. Maybe once in two months but that's all. Don't give coffee to your son once every week! That's crazy! He's only 11 years old and he can get high sugar. Trust me its not good. I like the taste too but I try my best to avoid it. You should do the same. Plus the caffeine in the coffee is not good at all. See ya!!!
