Hi everyone!
Just a while ago while trying to make a response the current was interrupted. We had a blackout and it went on for about 30 minutes.
At first when I experience blackouts I sometimes scream cause I get shock when it suddenly darkens. Family members also screams. I think everyone does that but not because they're afraid. Or are they??
What about you? Are you afraid of blackouts? What's the first thing you do when electricity is suddenly interrupted or cut off? What safety precautions do you do when experiencing a blackout?
Pleas do share!

when i was a kid i was terrified of blackouts. maybe coz i thought there's monsters everywhere and they'll eat me alive. lol. now my daughter feels the same too. she would really run fast once there's blackout and sometimes she will hurt her head in doing so.

Im not afraid of blackouts i hate it, because sometimes it happened without any warning. Specially when i am using the internet or watching the dvd and it blackouts all the sudden, then i shout the bad words lolz. I always get ready for that, candles and matches and even flash lights are always on the recue. Happy posting.

Hi! I also hate blackouts. Especially when power interruptions happens at night when its time to sleep. I can't sleep cause its hot and I can't even use an electric fan.
I have an emergency light always ready at my reach. I know where it is even if its blackout.
Happy mylotting!

If I'm eating with others, I'll steal something good from other's when the electricity goes off. Infact the govt here in Kearla (India) is quite kind that they provide specific time for power cut. So we know exactly at what moment the electricity goes off, and we do watchout for good food items in front of others.
I do have a powerful UPS which give me 6 hours of backup, so I m not that worried about computers. Since the monitor is providing enough light, its not a complete blackout. So its okay... The heat though is terrible, when it becomes summer.

Funny you mention this; where I live, from time to time, we have blackouts, and we had one last night; My mom and I were talking about the family and all of a sudden, there was a blackout; I heard something pulling elsewhere outside but for two hours we were without lights around my area. Since most of the folk were asleep, it mostly went unnoticed around us. So we have lanterns, flashlights and such in our house in case of such an event and leave it at that. works for us. We have considered a generator as well, but that takes time, effort and money too.I live in an area prone to hurricanes and such so one would be a good investment.

Oh same here friend.. I hate blackouts when its hot especially if I'm about to sleep. It's hard to sleep in a hot night. One time there was a continuous blackout for 3 nights. I can't sleep so I checked-in in a hotel cause they have generators there just to have a good night sleep even for one night. I thought I was the only one who had the idea but I found out that there have been people who checked-in too.
Happy mylotting!

Thats a great idea for those long term blackouts when you know. Only problem here we never know how long they are going to last. I can deal with the heat its the mosiquitos bugs etc that I really like the fan for. Keep your candles ready and happy lotting your lot! :)

I seldom experience blackout here but I don't afraid of it. I always prepaid with where the torchlight and candle are when blackout strike and you in the dark. It usually only for a few minutes and not more than an hour. I've put some candles and torchlisht scatter around the house so when blackout hit I know where to find them.
