We could have expected the saying "ignorance is bliss". Trying telling that you're ignorant to the laws of a different state or country to a policeman and you're still going to jail. "Ignorance of the law excuses no one" is their return for that saying. Try pretending to be ignorant in the middle of a conversation with some folks and you'll be the laughing stock or worse, be the topic of their next discussions. We have now become so modernized and everyone around us are becoming information-crazed in the process. Are we finding ignorance unforgivable these days? Don't we also realize that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing?

Ignorance is bliss. But being informed is empowerment. And empowerment always comes at a price. :)

hi. Yeah a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Like a half truth is a lie. But we cannot blame ignorant people. The doctrine of ignorance of the law excuses no one from compliance therewith has an exception. It is not always absolute. There are instances when the law gives leeway to a person because he is ignorant in something because the first and foremost duty is to uphold justice. Not to be a channel of unfairness by reason of the stiff and strict enforcement of the law.

I guess a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, however, it would be better than ignorance. Knowledge would be dangerous if you choose to use it to endanger you. Knowledge would do you good if one uses it for that purpose also. For instance, the knowing our rights, would prevent others abusing you. It's like arming yourself against your enemies. I believe this is how good lawyers would equip themselves. They know so much of (almost) everything that they would know the loopholes of the arguments made by their opponent.
