First of all you need to get your priorities straight. It is obvious that you KNOW that your studies are more important than catching a movie so all you need to do is keep this in mind. You can think of sitting in front of the TV to watch a movie as a reward that you get to enjoy after the work is done. Also, find other things to fill your time in a rewarding way other than watching TV. Soon you will see that there are many things you can do instead of watching TV Establish a schedule and stick to it. From x to y time attend school from x to y time practice a sport or spend time with friend from x to y time study or do homework set time to eat, sleep, shower, etc from x to y time watch TV make sure it is no more that 2 hours a day - that's almost 10% of your day. NOTE - whether watching a movie or playing video games, or watching a show, it doesn't matter, it is all combined in the 2 hours you allow for TV time. Ask your close friends to help you stick to your schedule and place notes in your living space to remind you of the schedule. After a few weeks you won't need the schedule because going about your routine will become second nature and then you'll realize that you are not spending that much time in front of th eTV because you are doing other things that keep you busy and entertained. Good Luck!

Hello there. I understand how you feel because I was a teenager once upon a time ago. At my time it was more devastating because we do not have Play Station to play games. Watching movies from the CD player is considered on of the best entertainment source which teenagers can get, besides from hanging out in the bar or gathering up with friends on the park or something. But going out frequently requires us to have some money each time we do the outing. That's why I chose to stay indoor and during semester breaks I bought a lot of CD's and watched endlessly. Sometimes I spent around 6 hours watching two or three movies straight in a row. I still remember that one time when I watched the movie Titanic for two consecutive times because I was not satisfied watching it one time. I started watching at 12 midnight and ended at 6 am, which means I didn't sleep at all during that night. However the next day I slept until it was noon and my mother nagged at me because she said I didn't know how to manage my time. So what? I was a teenager on the first week of semester break. I need a break and that was exactly I was doing, right? However the addiction reduced shortly afterwards because I tend to get bored watching the movies after a while. I needed some fresh air to breathe and outside scenery to look at. I think what you should do is to find a suitable day, preferably a holiday. If you can get two days off, it is better for you. Then turn on your DVD player and watch all the movie you want and don't stop at all. You can only stop for 10 minutes between each movie. While watching a movie, your eyes are not allowed to drift elsewhere. In this way you will feel bored and without you knowing it you won't want to watch that much of a movie anymore. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi naturecode. I like you. At least you're frank enough to own up that you love watching movies (kind of addicted, right?) and at the same time want to get out of it. "Where there's a will, there is a way". My second son was just like you. All he would do is, lie on the sofa, watch TV, and yell 'mama, could I please have this or that". I used to get mad, but I also realised getting mad would not help. I gently put it forward to him about other people's lives, the ones who reached somewhere and the ones who are just idling around. Which of them is better? He would ignore, no doubt. But I knew, a bit of it would get digested in him. Likewise, don't blame yourself. Keep willing yourself on what you want to be. Don't make it hard on yourself, but keep pushing to reach the top. Compete your yourself healthily with others, and all will go well. All the very best to you. Oh, by the way, you should pray to God to help you take the right path. God bless you.

By the way, what are you studying? Do well in whatever you do. God will definitely help you if you only ask.

Well, I am not a movie watcher, and I am not a kind of person who would spend lots of my time in front of television. My sisters were, but they are no longer watching TV that much. They are now having so much more important things to do so that they are no longer focusing in having some time in front of TV. The only way to avoid watching TV too much is by being discipline in the schedule. There is sometimes you have to force yourself turning the TV off even it was your favorite movie in the TV. I hope my suggestion helped you solving your problem.

You will have to sort this problem out yourself as early as possible. For sake of your academics and career you will have to do it. I don't like to watch movies a number of times, and you also try this out. Don't watch those movies which are already known to you.All the best to you!!
