What do you do when life didn't turn out the way you wanted it to? My dreams and visions ended up becoming a vapor in the wind.
I've been unemployed for 2.5 years and doing odd jobs to barely get by. The mortgage hasn't been paid in months and every time it looks like things will get better, I get another blow.
I've been substituting at various schools and trying to find a teaching job. It's not my dream job, but I do like helping kids. I also was a tutor last year and the kids grades soared through the roof! The parents love me.
You would think that this would have been my first love. But it wasn't. I am trying to become certified so I can get a full time job. The benefits are good and you get the best holidays and time off out there.
Anyway...has anyone else had to take a different route in their careers, because of unforeseen circumstances?

i understand what you feel..cheer up!!if you think that you have no future in the field you are now then try another job..i presume you are a teacher ...try to take the exam for the last time and be sure that you give your best..and if not successful then its time i guess that you change your plan..why not try applying on a call center agent? the salary is high and benefits too...im a bookkeeper and i try to take the licensure exam twice but still a failure..but then again i enjoy my job and especially now that im a freelancer ..

My prayers go out to you. I know when I was a teenager I didn't foresee my life as it is now at all. I'm 27 and have been on disability for almost three years. I remember when I was working how wonderful I felt about myself (my last job was at a children's mental health hospital). When I had to quit, it was like all my self-esteem left with my job. Right now I'm barely paying my bills, although I'm grateful for my benefits even if they are very small. God is taking care of me, and I know things will get better. It just takes time. I always think that the best is before us, not behind us. You are going to be blessed in the future I'm sure. I want you to know I'm not going to forget this discussion, and will be praying for you every day. It is scary needing a job and having bills looming over you. My mom doesn't have a job either, and it is hard watching my dad take on so much to make ends meet. Her health isn't so good either, and it pains me to see both of them struggle. Thankfully, my sister and her husband are doing well and I don't have to add them to my list of worries! : )
