I bought an umbrella during last August when i was in a pound shop in Galway. I thought it was a real bargain to buy an umbrella for two euros only. Unfortunately I did not use it more than two times that it broke out. I really think that you get what you pay for. What do you think about this subject. © ronaldinu 2008

ha ha as they often say you spend two in it and you will only used it twice too. oh it is an old saying on buying things with quality as oppose to buying things that are cheaper and the quality is no good. next time be more practical.

I know what you mean my friend it seems like you get what you pay for so if you get something really cheap there is always the chance that it is going to be cheaply made and not worth anything,so sometimes it is better to buy things that are a little more expensive, because at least they should not let you down, and I have heard of people buying brooks for a dollar from the dollar store, and then the brooms turning out to not be worth nothing because they break easily.

I don't know I have had my dollar store umbrella for about 3 years now. I haven't had any problems with it. I also had a bigger one that I got from WalMart for only 3 dollars and it lasted me a while. It broke but that was an opps on my part I kinda ran it over. (dont ask lol) I do agree that some times you get what you pay for but maybe it depends on other things too.

Hi Ronaldinu, I believe there is such a thing as a bargain but like with any bargain there is always the naff pound spent and this umbrella obviously was. I will only pay a pound for a vest type t-shirt in the summer and buys lots in various colours, I don't expect them to last but use as a vest under a jumper in the winer too so really do get my moneys worth from them but other items I have bought, first time use likewith your umbrella and no good to use again and totally false economy I agree. Huggles. Ellie :D

Yes, I do believe you get what you pay for..haha. My husband is always telling me that, because I'm not a big spender, I always try to find the bargains, and buy the cheapest one, and usually it will end up breaking on me, or it won't last very long. Thats when he tells me that, you get what you pay for...lol.

YEah, most of the time, this is the case.. What we paid for, is what we get.. So when we are paying for something that's real cheap, dun expect anything more.. lol =D Everything comes with a price, and be it high or low, we as consumers will always not be the one whom picks up a bargain.. hehe I too had a umbrella from swatch for free, but it was of lousy quality that rain water can actually seep thru the umbrella after using it for more than 10 mins each time.. lol =D Well, this is a case of, u get what u pay.. lol

We tend to buy things because of the cheap price. Hardly do we realize that we wasted money because the items do not serve us that much. I also had that attitude before but experience like that changed me. I now have to think a hundred times and examine a hundred times if the cheap item is worth being bought. I had an umbrella destroyed in a day because it was only bought for one dollar. It was not able to withstand the strong wind and it brought me nothing but embarassment! Ha!ha!ha!

Mostly, when you get the thing cheap it is easily break but sometimes there are branded stuffs which are very durable thats on sale. Not as cheap as its almost free but like 50-70% off.Sometimes no matter how you take care of things when its cheaply done it never lasts long.Specially its made from cheap and not durable materials.

I understand where you are coming from. I bought a computer from Wal-Mart an EMachine. The motherboard burn out in it. When I call the geek that works on my computer for me he said the same thing "You get what you pay for".

I agree with you. For me the price of the products usually can be determined by these : Cheap price but with a low quality or less features and Expensive but have an excellent quality and several extra features. This umbrella case is true if you look at current car market. A high reputable car s brand's like Mercedes or BMW have a better and higher quality when compared to our locally made cars or the cheaper brand cars. Beside. it also equipped with a more sophsticated gadgets and extra features. The price? Of course will be several times higher than other cars. But what you get is worthy to what you pay right?

Well, I beg the differ. I have bought many things from a pawn shop, thirft store, garage sale or other discounted place and never had a problem with them. I rather enjoyed saving money and go to them looking for bargins.

I think you're right. We always seem to get exactly what we pay for. It seems only fair to me.

Hi ronald yes I think you do get what you pay for, sometimes though you can be lucky and get a good bargain from those shops, I have a pund shop near where I live and they sell some lovely cups, utensils, vases, pictures all sorts plus brand name foods and shampoo soap etc, so am fortunate that they are so good..the fact that everything is a pound too is brilliant...littleowl

I definitely agree with you. I can't tell you how many times I've bought something at a discount price only to have it fall apart on me. Also, I've given up on buying umbrellas because I've lost so many of them! LOL! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija
