New windows in a new tab

One of the biggest things I dislike about firefox is when I type a url in the address bar, it takes over the tab I have open. This drives me nuts! I know I can have it open in a new tab, if I push ALT+ENTER, but half the time I forget to do that. With myLot, if I am halfway through typing up a post, and I need to look something up, and forgot to open in a new tab, I have to click back, and have to start typing my post all over again. ARGGGGH!!!
Has anyone found any addons to fix this yet? I'm using FF 3.0.3

Shortcut keys for new tab in Mozilla Firefox is Ctrl T.So before you type the site in the address bar, press first Ctrl T. Press and hold Ctrl in the keyboard, then press letter T. It can be an alternate solution. Have a nice day!

That's a good question, but I have one for you....
Have you tried the Tab Kit add-on?
