Of all the things that could happen to us in our day to day life..... I just read this article about some gelato that was tested and was found to contain faecal matter! Here's a link to the story: http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/5109576/ice-cream-sample-tests-positive-poo/ This is beyond disgusting. If I ever found out that something I had been eating had been tested and sh*t was found in it I think I would go ballistic! How would you react if you were to discover the same?

All of us have at one time or another encountered some kind of sh!t James, many of us are often full of it! Not too long ago I spent a few months camping up in the wilderness. It was a watershed and many springs were located in the area. There was one magical spot (I eventually moved my campsite right across from it) where clear, crisp, icy cold water came straight out of the rocks. I drank this water every day. One day a rowdy bunch of teenagers moved in for a few weeks and set up camp right in front of my access point to the spring, with their dogs chained up right where I would have to walk. And while they were all - the kids and the dogs - friendly and cool, I was still pretty uncomfortable walking through the middle of their camp… past the dogs - who may or may not be extra-territorial under those circumstances… waking everybody up who was trying to get some sleep after a long night of music and fireworks and chasing laughing, screaming girls through the trees. So, I found another spring right behind my camp. Granted, it did not feel quite as clean, but it would have to do. It sort of oozed up out of the ground and ran along the mountain for awhile, sinking back down through the ground and trickling out through the rocks of an extended area. No telling how many bears or wildcats had squatted there for a dump. I eventually found a spot that looked pretty good and the least likely to have suffered any 'contamination', and took some water which I gingerly drank for the next few days or a week, whatever, anyway, all was well till another fellow camper had a rendezvous with an old friend while sitting around my campfire... who, out of the blue, starts talking about a ‘bad case’ of parasites she had got from the water on some extended sort of pilgrimage. I believe the mind has seniority over matter, plus, she didn’t seem all that bright anyway, so I attempted to steadfastly refuse to allow myself to be influenced by her reality, but the damage was done, because I could not rid myself of the image of those microscopic monstrosities invading my system. I could feel them growing and multiplying, claiming for themselves MY physical organism. I finally had to stop drinking that water because I simply wasn't in the mood for all that sh!t! However, the fact remains that in some way or another you are ingesting fecal matter into your system, probably on a daily basis. There is a certain amount of rat droppings and insect bodies, etc., that are allowed in our food. It all just comes down to balance I think. And focus. They are actually interconnected. And while I don’t like to obsessively focus on that kind of thing, I am nevertheless very picky about my water. I don't even know that I could ever drink 'city water' again. It’s pretty hard for me to buy packaged food or eat in restaurants either, because you just don’t know what goes on in back of the facade.

I too have eneded up creating all these monstrous ideas in my head about one thing or another that I have eaten before and even though there is nothing there at all the old mind convinces me otherwise! lol. Even a burp or a slight tummy grumble sets off all these thoughts of doom and disaster and it's quite funny when you think about it! I agree that we would ingest a lot of faecal matter in our day to day lives, yes. The dirt we get on our fingers would be full of it; our toothbrush housed in the bathroom would be covered in it too from when we flush the toilet and airborne particles land on it..... But to have it so obvious in something like ice cream like in this article (And it was chocolate ice cream too I think. How ironic!) is a scary thought for most of us. I have worked in many a restaurant as I know you have too; but I try not to think about the possibilties also. Let's just hope that the health departments are doing their job every now and then to at least reduce the incidents of food contamination. Thank God our bodies are so adept at fighting bacteria..... I have a story for you too that is gross but funny. I have a family friend back in Australia that spent a year in India on some sort of pilgrimage. She had a really bad case of the runs from the local water and food and had to constantly go off into the forest to relieve herself throughout the day. On one occasion she was squatting down blasting for all she was worth when she heard this rustling and snuffling sound behind her. When she turned around to see what was what, there was a wild pig eating her sh*t as fast as it was coming out! Now how disgusting is THAT! Sorry to start your day with a tale such as this one but after being in India yourself I thought you might enjoy it in a bizzarely macabre type of way!

Oh that's just horrendous zigzagbuddha! I am finally coming to grips with the notion that sh!t in the ice cream was somewhat of an anomaly and then you go and hit me up with stories of German Sheperd Sh!t floors and steak tartare! lol. I think I shall seek more knowledge on that spiritual path where we sustain ourselves with breath alone because I don't think I will ever be able to enter any food establishment ever again without immediately wanting to don a biochemical suit!

Or at least investigate their kitchen! Interview all the staff. Wipe down your seat and table with Clorox wipes. Wear gloves. Bring your own silverware. I think I'd just rather do my own cooking, unless I trusted the establishment. Which would mean that I had investigated the kitchen and interviewed the staff, hehehehe.

Yuck, yuck and yuck! I knew my curiosity was going to get the better of me. I just HAD to go take a look. Wish now that I hadn't. Oh well, one day I WILL learn to trust my own instincts! I will. ............I will!

Hahaha. Got you eventually Bo! I am not surprised that you wish you hadn't caved and then checked because I wish I had never even found this article in the first place. The very thought of something like this is horrifying to say the least. And it was chocolate ice cream too I think! lol. Thanks for the response.

It was chocolate, and I don't think I have ever found chocolate to be so unappealing.

This is disgusting!! I would have showed them my piece of mind and then would sue the restaurant and see to it that it closes down or repents sufficiently. How can this happen? Was there no check?

How spiteful! They should be pulled down outright! Oh yes, I am getting a block now. I would sniff and and definitely have reservations before the buys!! See, you cannot be happy go lucky...

They are also doing DNA tests on the staff at the restaurant concerned and other tests to see if the faecal matter is animal or human. It just keeps on getting more and more disgusting the deeper they get with the inquiry.

It all came about when the people that were given the ice cream became sick. Apparently the ice cream was a freebie because they couldn't hear the sports on the TV nearby or something? Now how's THIS for customer service! I am hoping I can get this article out of mind sooner rather than later because I do like to buy outside food every now and then and the last thing I wish to be recalling every time I buy some food is something like this! Thanks for the response mimpi.

I think I just threw up a little. GROSS! As gross as it is though, I'm not surprised. The processed food we eat these days all has rat poop and mouse tails in it. Canneries are disgusting places, meat processing plants will turn anyone into a vegan and frozen food is more like frozen WTF. It's enough to almost make me want to grow my own food. I'm just so lazy...

I can't even imagine the horrors of a slaughter house. Oh my! You are stronger than I. :) I can't help but wonder if starvation isn't better than eating "frozen WTF". hehe

Working in a slaughterhouse certainly had its moments I can tell you! Thankfully I never had to actually kill anything though so at least that was something. Frozen WTF might actually be a good brand name acuity!

Lol. "frozen WTF" is a very funny way to describe it acuity and from what I have seen fall out of the bags sometimes I think this term is perfect! Funnily enough I did once work in a slaughterhouse but it didn't turn me of meat at all and believe me, some of the things I saw there were like something out of a horror movie! I don't even want to think about what might be in the things we eat on a day to day basis and I think that if we all honestly knew then we would die of starvation and not touch anything! Thanks for the response.

They are not even sure yet if the turds are animal or human! Apparently they are conducting DNA based tests to see once and for all but I am not sure of the results. Thanks for the response.

This may be a strange thing to say, but I think I would feel better knowing that it was from a rat or a mouse or something rather than from a person! At least this scenario would make some sense.

I would be throwing up on the Manager's shoes. Did you notice the couple turned down any cash offered saying they weren't after money...then sued for MORE money???

Yes, it's always greed in the end isn't it. All it takes is a few choice words from a lawyer and the whole landscape changes..... Kaching!lol. The whole incident is horrendous to think about and all the money in the world isn't going to change the fact that they ate gelati with crap in it. Thanks for the response LadyMarissa.

When something undesirable gets into the mouth James, out it comes with a phew, a yucky feeling and a desire to rinse, brush everything to get that feeling out of the mouth. Now when something like this happens a stomach wash ? Now who would i take out this frustration on . Get hold of the manufacturer, a shove a large dose of the ice cream or the faceal matter down his throat. ? And what exactly do you mean by being Ballistic James. I'm curious as to what reaction exactly this brings out in you.

I am still quite disturbed by the article to be honest. Many of us eat out all the time and buy take-away etc and the very thought of something like this possibly being in the food is horrifying! How would we even know?? As for going ballistic, have you seen The Hulk alok? I am thinking something along these lines..... lol. It's probably a too strong a word to use actually but I would be seeking every angle possible to nail the people that gave me tainted food like this. Legal, health authorities, media; anything I could muster! Thanks for the response.

It is very disturbing James, and the more one knows the worse one feels. Accident, or someones sick joke, or something else time will tell. What lessons we learn from this, and what measures are taken depends indeed on what coverage and what action is taken in this regard. I understand the Hulk part and am sure there a lot who feel the same way.

Yet another great reason why I don't eat out if I can at all help it. I have seen news reports of ppl peeing in the drinks, scratching themselves and then handling food, picking food up after it's fallen on the floor and even fishing a burger out of a grease bucket when it fell in AND STILL SERVING IT UP! Some ppl just don't care and there is no way I want to contract some disease b/c of someone else's stupidity. I hope they close this place down and fast. Tell me about it! My wife and I were out at a shopping centre today and walked past a gelati shop in the food court. We both looked at each other and jokingly asked if either of us should get some! NO WAY! It makes me think twice now about any outside food I will ever eat again. I hope they close down everyone involved in this as well. Thanks for the response twoey.

You know what I would have done James? I would go to that manufacturer with a bagful of my faecal matter and force it down his/her throat because thats exactly what they have been doing to me and many others but the worst part is that they we buy from them. Then after that I torch the factory so that they wont repeat that on other innocent buys! Gosh, I dont know what else I would do. This is sooo bad James.

This definitely sounds like a very thereaputic way to deal with the matter kwenge! lol. I agree that this is really, really bad and I would at first be absolutely livid. Then I think that I would do everything I possibly could to shut down each and every person or company that was concerned with it. The whole thought of having EVER eaten something with this in it is horrifying for me. Thanks for the response.
