Has the economy affected your standard way of living?

The economy has affected us a great deal, moreso recently within the past 4 to 5 months. My salary was reduced for a second time within the past year. It is primarily because of the way business is ran. If a lot of revenue is generated, the better the outcome and better salaries that can be paid, and vice versa.
We've had to cut back on the normal luxaries that some folks take for granted. Since I grew up without alot of stuff in my childhood, I think giving up those things are relatively easier of me. I know that my kids are making adjustments as well in the area of toys, etc...
How is the economy affecting you and your way of life?

Yes, it has affected our family. Our grocery bill has gone up a lot. And of course the gas prices are a lot higher than normal. Everything is more expensive, even restaurants, etc. We don't eat out hardly at all any more now. And my bonusses at work are non-existent now. We have to live on less money with higher prices. It is very difficult.

You might want to check out angelfoodministries.com It is a great asset for us! You buy a weeks worth of groceries for $30.00. You can buy other boxes too to supplement your one regular box. It has a lot of meats in it.. All foods are fresh and not out of date. Some are already seasoned so you don't have to buy things to flavor them. Hope this helps! They do this all over the US and the website will tell you what is the nearest host site for you.

We are really suffering as a result of this current economic situation. We used to be able to go out to dinner about every 2 weeks. Now we don't go out at all. It has been about 5 months since we went out to eat in a restaurant. Also, my grocery bill has gone way up. Everything is priced higher. And the gas prices of course everyone knows they are way up.
The prices for everything is continually going up and my husband's salary is remaining the same. He usually gets a quarterly bonus, but that has not happened now twice and I don't expect him to get another bonus in the near future. We used to use his bonus money to catch up on bills, etc. Now we do not have that luxury.
I am happy though that he still has a job. Last year he lost his job just about this time of the year. This sucks because we are a single wage earning family and we have four children. We have a mortgage and a car payment. We are suffering the same as many (I think most) families out there.
I just hope the economy starts to turn around soon. I was poor as a child and at best my husband and I would be lower or middle - middle class. Right now though, there have been many hotdog and macaroni and cheese nights for dinner. It is harder for him than it is me as he always had whatever he wanted as a child. I really never got any extras, etc. and know how to scrimp and save.
Well on that note, have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

Not really. I mean we are in a lot of debt and are trying to get out of it so we are making cut backs but we would have had to do the same thing 3 years ago so I don't attribute our lifestyle changes to the economy. It just kind of sucks having buy food. We were on food stamps and I think we will lose them starting in November. Food costs are kind of high but we recently started shopping at Aldi. Get a lot of great food there for less.

We shop there as well. The prices are wonderful. We still purchase a few things like soy milk from the regular grocery chains. Be careful of their meats though, as some of them have given us upset stomachs.
Sorry to hear about your November. Don't let it get you down, keep working your plans and making additional cutbacks as necessary to breathe a lot easier. The most important things are the things you need in your home. Lights, Gas (if applicable), food. money for roof over your head, and transportation costs to get back and forth to your job. Cell phones, internet usage, telephone are not absolute necessesities. Whatever you guys have to go through, make sure you go through it together verses upset with each other.

Yes, the economy has greatly affected the style of life that we have now. I am cutting back on everything and we don't buy new clothes, name brand foods, etc. It is just not possbile to do those things right now. We eat at home a lot more now and we never seem to have the extra money to do things that we used too.
We are actually trying to get a cheaper home so that our payments won't be as great as they have been. We also have cut off many appliances that we used to leave pulled in and we don't watch as much tv as before.

We still are pretty comfy. We don't go out to the movies as much. We use Netflix more. We don't go out to eat as often. Shopping at thrift stores, using coupons. Not driving as many places. Making small changes for us is making a bigger difference.

I don't think it is the economy affecting my way of life so much as the fact that I am in debt - this means that so much of my money and time are going towards paying off the debt or being frugal so I can pay off the debt more quickly that I have no money for anything that is not a necessity.

Yes it is affecting us, we have made a lot of cutbacks. Main area being on food, I shop for cheaper brands of things now rather than the luxury brands which actually are not that bad and are an awful lot cheaper. I had already made a lot of cutbacks this year anyway before all this even started so we were quite prepared. Unfortunately things are going to get a little tougher for us from next week as my hubby has had his hours cut by four per week so the wages will be a lot lower but there is not a lot I can do about it except for change all the budgets around again.

In China,I don't think my life is affected by the global down in economy except my stock, all of which may have a good long time sleep in my account. In my opinion, the down of economy will at some degree benefit the poor men or say low income group coz everything will be down due to the whole enviroment~what do you think?

Yes, everything has gone sky high. Cost of living these days are increasing day by day. Now we have to adjust and manage our expenses. Priority expenses comes first of course.

The economy has affected me a lot. My salary was reduced at this month. I felt so bad. I wonder that why reduced my salary. I work very hard that my superior praise me pretty highly always. But now,it was pity that my superior reduced my salary first on the staff. I have to eat at my home recently. I have to miss my family dinner once a week. Do you have an idea for me to aviod the economic crisis? I have no idea what to do.Maybe i've an idea that i'll soom quit my job.

Yes! I used to be able to get a job right on the spot, without having any experience. Now, it's as if you need a college degree just to work at McDonalds. I've been having a hard time trying to find a job, and I'm looking everywhere. I've started selling stuff on Ebay, it's a good way to make extra cash. Hopefully I have enough for tuition and books next semester. It sucks because my dad makes too much for me to receive any money from FAFSA, or things like that but he can't help pay my tuition.

100%!!! This economy has affected our way of life! We used to go to movies and out to eat. We do neither anymore. The price of gas has put me on a strict monthly budget. I do not spend more than $50 in gas per week. I haven't filled up my gas tank in almost a year. When the gas is out, it's out, we don't leave the house.
My kids are getting used to eating at home, and not going out so much, but it is kind of boring. We found a cool website that allows us to watch movies on line and we've been doing that instead of going to the theatre.

Yes the economy certainly affect our way of living. With higher cost on food and other necessary stuff we tend on trying to save on thing we don't need much.
Before we use our car everyday for work, now we only use it if necessary. We are now waiting for the company service. By that we save on gasoline since the price of gasoline here in our country is way to high. We don't eat much in the fast food chain now unlike before.

I haven't noticed a difference with my family. Our lifestyle hasn't ever really been stable though. We're the type of people who aren't very good at paying bills because we love to spend all our money on fast food and entertainment. We've slowly been getting better at that, so I think the fact that we were making lifestyle changes anyways has sort of hidden the fact that we're not as well off as we used to be. We just assume it's hard to have fun and pay the bills at the same time.

So far, the impact's not that big, but my bonus at the end of year must be reduced, that's awful. We eat at home all the time, haven't bought clothes for a month. I'm trying to save money, while it turns out prices of food and rent is increasing! How can it be like this??

Not really too much. I have always been very frugal used coupons and whatnot but, breaking my husband of buying everything he wants has been a little hard. It's not that we can't afford it but he works in sales (total commission) and the winter is hard for us. I just try to keep our spending down so when the cold sets in and sales slump we will have more money to fall back on than we did last year.

The economy...wow! Well let me just say, the only positive about the economy is that it has aloud me to think heavily outside of the box! Other than that, the effect it has on my life is tremendous in a very negative way!!
