My Christmas Wishlist

My husband asked me to come up with a wishlist for Christmas. Well I'm stumped because I can't really come up with anything I want that we can actually afford. I want a new winter coat, and some winter boots, but those are a bit on the expensive side, and with having to buy for 5 kids, I'd like to keep my list at items that are $20 or less. I just really can't think of anything that cheap that I really want. What would you ask for, keeping it under $20?

Everything I want on my wishlist is outside our budget as well. I think that is why it is my wish list... If able to get what I wanted, a new laptop would be the very top thing that I would want for Christmas. I have always wanted to get one.

I want a Wii, a dishwasher, to get my van fixed... perhaps a new house or at least remodel this one. Yeah, coat and boots are the cheapest thing on my list, lol.

I think some new clothes would be the least expensive thing on my list. But then it would not really be a wishlist...lol

I can't trust my husband to buy me clothes. Last time he bought me clothes they were the wrong size and I didn't like the sweaters he picked out.

A date night. Plain and simple, I just want one night with no kids, we don't even have to do anything but hangout. We wouldn't even have to go anywhere.

We have date nights at home 2 or 3 nights a week after the kids are in bed. We honestly have no problem there. Getting out without them doesn't happen often, but when it does we spend the whole time talking about them anyways, so what's the big deal. We have no qualms about taking the kids to Red Lobster or Olive Garden with us, and honestly it doesn't cost too much more to bring them.

That's great that you can find the time alone with that many kids and with his long hours.

When it comes to trying to think of wants, it makes me realise how lucky I am. There's not really very much that I want or need. I think I would add little luxuries to my list. Perhaps some nice bubble bath, some chocolate, that sort of thing.

There really isn't a whole lot I need either, which is why it's so difficult to think of anything. Anything I really want or need I usually buy myself through out the year, or it just sort of hits me as I go around my day "Oh, I can really use some tupperware" but then I forget later.

Well it looks like I'm the spoiled one here.... My husband usually gives me money and tells me to buy whatever I want, I think last year I bought a few clothes, and I bought myself a leather jacket, something I've been wanting for a long time. He'll most likely do the same this year, I wished he would go out and buy me something himself, I'd be more surprised if he did, but he says I'm hard to shop for, I try to give him hints but he don't get them..lol. If I just had 20.00, I would ask for a dvd or cd of some kind, because I love watching movies, and listening to music, or give me a gift card, and I'll go get it myself...have a good day

I would hate for him to just give me money. I love to have presents to open. Most of the time I don't even care what it is, I just love having gifts. We like to do a bunch of gifts for each other, which is why we try to keep it cheap. I could get my coat and boots, but that would be all I get, and I like to have lots of stuff to open. We usually fill the entire living room with gifts for our family.

hmm. That is a hard question. My boyfriend knows he can easily get me a book of poetry and I would love it. But something I would do is ask him for something he would have to make. Like a poem or a good picture of the kids in a frame. oh oh what about an evening alone with him. I'm sure with five kids you don't get that often.

You're right, I don't get that very often! But Christmas gifts are special for us, we make a big deal of having a present all wrapped up and ready to open. The kids also think it's a big deal for us to get presents. If we don't get each other anything they'll wonder why "Santa" forgot us.

I'll give you a list of things under 20.00 that would really make my day. I don't know if we will even be buying gifts for each other this year. I'm hoping that my Avon sales will go well and that way I can give some inexpensive small things at a reasonable price. So here's my list of under 20 gifts: Silver earrings, silver bracelet, cook books, bath and body stuff-I love shower gels/sprays that are natural scents like coconut, lime, citrus- flavored coffee, and fine chocolate.

I thought of all that stuff, but most of it doesn't work for me at all. I don't wear jewelry except my ring, I already have too many cook books and belong to a cook book club. The bath and body stuff would work for me, and it is something I usually get every year. Bath and Body works is one of my favorite stores! I don't drink coffee, and chocolate is also something I get every year in my stocking, Ferrero Rocher! Yum!!

Buying something for $20 for a woman would be difficult unless he found something nice on sale for less than $20. Even cologne,if you get a nice one, is more than $20. Last year, we were pinching pennies (and will be this year), and my husband and I decided not to buy anything for each other. I found it didn't hurt us at all.

We are not big spenders and do most of our shopping at Walmart, so keeping it under $20 isn't a huge problem. The perfume I wear is $10 or less, I just rarely wear it so don't need much. I usually get him work pants, underwear, and pajamas every year along with a movie or game and things like that... each is $20 or less. I suppose I could ask for the same things, I need pajamas and socks and things like that.

What do you think of a coupon book from him? He can make a little booklet and think up an idea for each page. Then you can "cash in" a coupon whenever you like. It could be anything like promising to take out the trash for a week without grumbling about it, to cleaning out the garage, to a foot massage, to fixing the squeaky door you've been promising to do since last Christmas. You could each do one for the other and have fun cashing in coupons for the next month or two. It doesn't cost a thing and could be a lot of fun. You can throw in a few sexy coupons for some private fun and use the $40 for a few bottles of bubbly to go with it. I don't know how handy you are, but my cousin and his wife decided that for Christmas gifts for each other they would make something rather than buy. They do it every year. One year he made her a wood jewelry box and she made him a quilt from clothing that belonged to his father who had passed on. They have become two of their most prized posessions. Another craft project could involve the children making something for each of you. Make or decorate a picture frame for school pictures for your desk, a hook rug of a character or dog breed you like, a collage of beloved family photos, decopage of a love poem. There are tons of inexpensive craft kits that you each could do with the children, I can't think of much that a woman would really want for $20 either, but maybe these ideas with work or spark some thoughts for you. Best of luck and Happy Holidays!!
