You see people all the time in the movies or tv binging over a pie or something to welcome the new family into the neighborhood. Heck, we stand inside our house and peek out the windows at them first, them maybe say hi if we happen to pass them leaving for work or school. Now if I do see them while I am outside in my yard I will go ahead and say hello and if they need anything feel free to ask. You know maybe power is not on yet or phone etc.

Hey devideddi! I'm with you! Peaking out the window is
the way "real" neighbors do it! We don't stand outside
with cakes and pies! No way! That's for the movies!
It's peaking out the blinds for us too! I do the same
thing as you do. If I happen to be outside and see the
new neigbors I will no hesitate to speak to them and
ask them if they need anything. But, I'm not inviting
anyone in for tea and cake! Not so fast anyway!

I do. For one, I like to be nice. Another reason is I have a little girl and I want to know everyone that she's going to interact with while outside playing. Here in the South its still quite common to greet the neighbors..Not so common to bake for them..I think everyone has a secret fear of being poisoned...Or maybe thats just me.

When our good freinds/neighbors moved out next door I was lost for a bit.
Then the new neighbors moved in shortly there after.
One winter morning a few days later the woman got stuck in a snowbank in her driveway.
I grabbed my shovel and snowblower to help her out.
That is when we were introduced to each other.
This was a few days after they had bought the house and mopved in.
My grandsons play wqith their 9 year old daughter each time they are visiting me.
We talk often with them as well.
I give them vegetables from my garden each summer also.
And canned pickles I make also are given to them.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

If I see a new person moving in next door I do walk over and introduce myself and later if I have a party I will invite them once. I know people who just stay in the house and wonder who you are and why you moved to the area. I like going out and meeting new neighbors because who knows they could become good friends.

I've had new neighbours twice now, and both I haven't spoken a word ever I guess, and I'm not planned to do either, I know which people are nice in my region, and thats ok by me, I wouldn't learn new people this way, but thats ok as I'm not much around home anyway.

no i don't, i think at times it's a waste of time, for some neighbors are just up tight in themselves, and feel like it's a bad idea to get to know who your living next to.
