As in most western countries the main cause of criminal behaviour is poor parenting. Something like 90% of prisoners in UK prisons have little or no relationship with their father and around half came through the 'care' system. Overwhelmingly children growing up without a father are the most likely to get into trouble. It appears that black and afro-caribbean children are far more likely to grow up without a father than asians. In UK around 50% of black and afro-caribbean children are in this category, compared with only 10% of asian children. If you want to dsolve the crime problem in jamaica or any western society, you must reverse the deiscrimination against fathers and stable families in general. You must reward fathers for staying involved with their children rather than punishing them. You must invest in teaching parenting to new parents. Children need BOTH parents.
