My husband and I have not been using birth control for almost three years. We weren't actively trying to have a baby but we weren't NOT trying. I found out I had an ovarian cyst a couple weeks ago, and we went to the OBGYN. We decided to go for surgery, have the cyst taken out, and since we haven't gotten pregnant yet, the doctor would check for endometriosis and also check my fallopian tubes with dye for any blockages. Then we figured after that we could seriously start trying. Well, as I woke up from surgery two days ago, my doctor told me that one of my ovaries was very damaged, one of my tubes was completely blocked, (not sure if those are on the same side or opposite sides) and there was a lot of endometriosis. He said if we're serious about getting pregnant, we need IVF. But he also said there is a hysterectomy in my near future. Monday morning we go back to the doctor and he'll explain more of what's going on. Right now we're kind of in shock; we hadn't expected this, and we're trying to figure out how we could afford IVF. I'm going to start a blog about what we do as we try to have a baby. What kinds of things do you all think I should include on it? And also, if you've had IVF, please feel free to share your experiences, especially if you have any ideas on how to pay for it. We don't have any extra money. Thanks for listening.

This discussion just popped up again. It's been a few months since you posted it, and I was wondering how you are going? Hopefully you have found some helpful answers.

I don't have any experience with this, I'd just like to wish you the best of luck. Hope it works out.

Hello, I did IVF to have my daughter who just turned 1. We tried to conceive for 5 years and I have PCOS. We did everything from Clomid, injections and moved on to IVF. I did one cycle of IVF with all the injections and had over and above results. I made 32 eggs; 28 were retreived. Out of the 28 retreived 21 were mature enough and all fertilized to day 2. Since I had so many thet took all of them to what is called the blast stage (day 5) and by that time we had 15 blasts. We transfered 2 embies and the cycle failed. Now I was told that because I produced so many eggs and my hormones were so strong from that that my body was healing and trying to become preggie so it was hard. I did not want to wait so we did an FET as soon as my period came. We transfered 2 embies for our 1st FET and we got my daughter. I have 11 embies on ice for future and we will be going back to have her sibbeling this year.
