Colin Baker. Why not? He's popular with the fans and he looks more Doctorish as he gets older. He still has plenty of energy (going by all the stage work he does). There's nothing to say a previous Doctor Who actor can't play the part again. I saw him giving a talk at a venue near me recently, and he did say he'd be interested in doing it again (although this time wearing more sensible clothes). Come to think of it, he still does the audios, so it's not like he's out of practice!

well if the Doctor could turn into somebody who's already been in the series (like Colin had been the first time round), whaty's to stop him turning into somebody who's already played him. As long as they give him a different (but still Docterish) personality instead of replaying the sixth Doctor + the more sensible clothes this would be a pretty good idea actually.

Colin Baker is fantastic and I have seen him on the stage in a variety of roles over the past 13 years or so. He would be great to reprise the role, but I love Matt Smith, so maybe he could come back as the 6th Doctor for a special with Matt?

If I had to choose I would choose Allen Rickmen! he's a wonderful actor and I could see him totally pulling off the Doctor!

I have no clue, as I never really got into the show. I'll send this discussion to my husband, and see what he says. He's a fan of the show.

Well I think that Stephen Fry or Paul Merton would do equally excellent jobs! They would both bring some great comedy to the role, and this is a key element for Dr Who especially in the recent series (ie. the Christopher Eccleston/David Tennant era). Stephen Fry would probably actually understand all the "technical stuff" that they have to talk about, and Paul Merton would make a good job of pretending that he did! Plus they have already set the precedent of having a comedian as a main character with Catherine Tate playing the Doctor's assistant. (I'm sure that there have also been many other comedy actors in the series, but I can't think of any right now... Oh, I've thought of one, Peter Kay!)

I was a big fan of Paterson Joseph and wanted him to get the role, but I am thrilled Matt Smith got it now, because he is fantastic!
