How do you get rid of the smell of Curry?

The basement tenants at my house just moved out and they used to eat and make a lot of curry. I just went down there and it really stinks. I opened the windows all day and it still stinks. What's the best way to get rid of the smell?

sprinkle baking soda on the carpet, let set over night, vacuum. then burn vanilla candles.
