Hi y'all!!
Are you a fan if 80's music? I am a serious fan and I love everything about the 80's. I was young, in my 20's, in college and just starting a teaching career. I love the music, the fashion, the big hair, all of it!! My favorite band from the 80's is Guns n Roses! OMG!! Slash played the heck out of that guitar and Axl made their music come alive!! I wore my hair is a layered bob, permed and frosted and teased out to here! I wore LA Gear sneakers, Members Only jackets, and super tight Sasson (or was it Sassoon?) skinny jeans! I watched videos on MTV (back when they actually showed videos), swooned to hair metal gods, and danced to Michael Jackson songs. Please tell us about the 80's music you love!!!

By looking at my profile pic, I'll bet u guys would never guess that I listened, and still listen to Quiet Riot (Come On Feel The Noise), Twisted Sister (Burn In Hell!), Van Halen and David Lee Roth (1984), Peter Gabriel, Police, Madonna, Prince and a gang of rock bands and pop artists..lol!
But I really got into the 80's Hip Hop, where the real hip Hop Heads started! we're talking Eric B and Rakim, BDP, Big Daddy Kane, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Kool Moe Dee, Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh, man the list can just go on!
Yep, the 80's was when music started to turn over to serious commercialism and started to get contaminated, but it was great!

Do you think 80's hip hop is a lot different from the 90's and even today? I love Baby Got Back and it just seems rap was more fun then. Walk This Way w/ Run DMC and Aerosmith is another great one. In the 90's it seemed to get pretty gangster about everything and today it seems more centered on T&A, money and bling! Will Smith also had some great 80's rap and the Beastie Boys were fun too. Thanks for your response.

Oh man, whatchu know about that...lol! But ur right, as far as, lyrical content, most 80's Hip Hop was better than 90's! But as a whole for creativity and all of the above, 90's Hip Hop was way better! Now I'm talking early 90's up to like '95! After that it started taking a steep slide! That's when Puffy started that whole Money is the key to life thing! It was good with Biggie though, but man it started getting very Whack when No Limit jumped in!
90's was more fun in Hip Hop though, that was the B-Boy Era! It's called Rap now days, n it's made up of mostly garbage!! There are some good ones in between, but whackness is the majority!

I've met a lot of younger people who enjoy 80's music and the fashions are now considered "vintage". If only I'd have hung onto all my clothes and stuff. It would probably be worth a fortune today. Thanks for responding!!!

There were some pretty suggestive lyrics in 80"s music. Now that I am a mom I have to be careful about singing out loud when my daughter is around. But I know what you mean!!!! Thanks for responding!
