She is going to Eckerts Farm to go to the pumpkin patch. She is really looking forward to it. The farm is in Graffton Illinois. We are in Missouri. Have you ever sent you child across state lines for a school field trip? There will be 2 buses, 40 children, 2 teachers, and 14 parent volunteers. As I am 8 months pregnant, I couldn't volunteer. Must say I am a bit nervous. It is about a 30 minute ride from the school.

do you need extra papers because you are sending the kids over state line? i am in canada and live in ontario and the farthest my children have gone is about 80 miles away to a stratford festival but that was when she was in grade 9. the younger grades only go with in the city.

I want to take my daughter to an orchard or berry farm someday to pick produce herself. I think it is a cool idea.

My sister went on her school field trip as well and was able to choose a pumpkin she loved being able to get a pumpkin and decorate it herself. She didn't have to cross any state lines to get to the pumpkin patch thankfully county lines yes..

By now, the trip must be over so how was it? I’ve never yet sent my son unaccompanied to any school trips. He’s 9yrs and I would wait for a few years more. The best yet is about to happen though…on 15th of this month (Saturday) the school is organizing a day long picnic to a country club which is about 2 hrs away from the city. Since the school is organizing everything, I have just paid the money. All food, transportation and everything with be arranged by the school. This is the first time he will be going somewhere ‘on his own’ so he is very excited.

I have never had my child go on a school field trip across state lines before. He has gone on a field trip that was about a 45 minute drive away a few times before. I am sure everything will be fine.

I can't imagine sending my son to public (or private) school, much less letting him cross state lines with them! I do remember having a good time on my field trips, though, several of them to the Tennessee Aquarium (I live near Atlanta, GA), but that was forever ago. Although 30 minutes from the school, no matter where it's located, is a good ride time for a kids' field trip. Any longer and they'd be whiny or asleep, and either way no one would have a good time! I don't think I've ever been to a pumpkin patch, and I'd like to take my little boy. Are pumpkin patches around after Halloween, or only before? I hope she has lots of fun!

You shouldn't get nervous because there are a lot of parents getting involved in this trip. You can rely on them to look after you daughter. I suggest that you talk to one of the parents involved to take a look at your daughter. In this way you can feel a lot more relieved as you have someone to rely on. It is just a thirty minute drive from school and you can always call her. With modern technology it is not impossible to give her a cell phone so she could contact you at any time. Just relax now and think this trip would give a lot of benefits to your daughter and you are doing the right thing by allowing her to take part.

My twins are going to "Hospital Land" next week. It's to get the kids used to the idea of hospitals just in case they ever need to be in one. They are looking forward to that.

Well I have never sent my child across the state line but he has been on a trip to the beach, which is about a 3 hour ride from us. However, he is older. He is a teenager already. His trip was in the 8th grade and he was 13. I think your child will be safe. I know what it is like to have the jitters though. I hope she finds a great pumpkin!
