Why are people jealous of Sarah Pallin?

Remember she does have a lot of supporter, but she has quite a few people who are not in her court and who like to ridicule her and make fun of her. Why do you think this is happening? Do they need to take there frustrations out of someone and since she is the only woman left in the election, grab her! Are they jealous? Men and women both equally put her down. One home in West Hollywood has an effigy of Sarah Pallin hanging from a noose. Own says it is meant to fun. How much fun is it to her children when they see it? We live in a sick, angry and jealous society. That person should be arrested. What do you think of Sarah Pallin? http://gretawire.foxnews.com/2008/10/27/gov-palin-effigy-in-a-noose-halloween-fun-or-going-too-far/

She is an unknown - people don't know what to expect from her so they are afraid of her. It evidently makes a lot of people feel better about themselves or about their candidate to insult and degrade Sarah Palin - which is pretty sad. I do think there are a lot of people in politics, particularly men, who feel threatened by her and that is their way of dealing with their own insecurities. The "Halloween decoration" was inappropriate and in poor taste - a very poor way for someone to express their political beliefs. I would venture to say that had the Obama effigy appeared first, those responsible would have been charged. Since it was Palin's that appeared first and it was decided not to charge the person responsible - they had no choice but not to charge the people responsible for Obama's.

One thing they do know about Biden is that he said Obama is not ready to lead our country, and now he is Obama's VP choice. Sounds like a sell out to me. I would not be comfortable with him for my VP.

well now she is rather stupid and lets everyone see when she is questioned. I am not one bit jealous of her at all. I just do notlike her and think she would make one lousy vice president for sure. she didnt do much as gov. of alaska, and less as potenial vice president either. She has made a lot of us less than happy by the way she answered questions asked of her. She just striked me as being totally out of her element. I am not in her court as I dislike both her and McClain.

What makes you think that everybody who does not support Sarah Palin is automatically jealous of her? I don't like her because she does not come anywhere near the excellence that has distinguished most women in politics. Her education is inferior. When I was in college, no accredited university would even give a degree to a student who did not attend their school for at least two years. How can anyone put together a decent education hodge podge with a semester here and a semester there? She was the mayor of a town so small that the only equivalent to Wasilla here in Pennsylvania would have a ceremonial mayor who would not be considered fit to govern Philadelphia much less be VP. From the beginning she seemed like the triumph of style over substance and then we learned that even the style was bought and paid for by the RNC. I don't think there is anything about Sara Palin that inspires jealousy. But the thought of that woman riding to the vice presidency on the coat tails of people like Hillary Rodham Clinton makes me cringe.

First of all, I know I can't speak for anyone but myself and those I know personally and have discussed this with, but I don't think jealousy has much to do with it. I mean, there probably are some people for whom that's their reason for disliking Sarah but I know I feel no jealousy towards her. Secondly, I'd like to address the effigy issue right away and say I think it's disgusting no matter to whom it's done. I have genuinely mixed feelings about whether these people should be arrested or not for doing these terrible things. My first instinct is to charge them to the fullest extent of the law because to me it's a hate crime, but I also know there are many who will say that whether we like something or hate it, whether we agree or not, everyone has that right to free speech and expression. Personally I don't think people like to "ridicule and make fun of" Palin because she's a woman or the only woman left in the campaign but again I can't speak for anyone else and I've no doubt that there are some men who automatically feel threatened by a successful woman. I do think she's brought a lot of it on herself by some of her words and actions. I'm not going to get into it too much because I don't want to come off like I'm attacking her but I've made no secret of the fact I'm no fan of Sarah Palin for many reasons. However, any human being deserves to be treated with respect and hanging someone in effigy is about as disrespectful as it gets and it's very sad that there are people in this country who would choose to do that to anyone. These people hate Sarah Palin because she is capable and talented, because she is rugged and tough and has great moral values and because she has a good chance of turning the election toward McCain. Their "fun display" of her is just venting their frustration toward her for winning McCain the election. BTW, I saw another fun display picture of someone's yard with an Obama figure being chased by a KKK member holding an axe. All in good fun, right?

Here's a link for the Obama picture. I was wrong, no axe, it's just a stick. http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree.blogspot.com/2008/10/mccain-kkk-obama-running-black-man.html

I don't think jealousy has a lot to do with it. I think, ney, I'm convinced, what is made fun of is the image of Palin that has been orchestrated by the media and the blogers and forums that parroted the media image. A sound bite here, a statement out of context there, a rumor made news here, a rumor that has been debunked and still regurgitated in blogs and forums there. Lets face a few facts. though many here may not agra with her ideology, she is far from a stupid person. She is about as plain folk a political figure as you are going to find and she is a rural gal. Combine those 2 and you have something easily spinable in to percieved stupidity. Then there is the fact that she is a Republican. That alone makes her a sinner in the eyes of almost half the country. That tag alone evokes frothing mouths and vile spoken sentiments in almost a pavlovian conditioned response. The moment she was anounced, many people in here had no idea who she was or anything about her but they already knew didn't like her. Don't make me go back through threads to demonstrate this. Face it people, we are a society that doesn't have time or ambition to form it's own original opinions any more. So we rely on the guru's and the "iluminatti" of the main stream media to tell us what we should think and how we should see a candidate, how we should be angry about an issue, how bad things are and how much better things can be with certain policies, what candidates should be paid attention 2 and which ones are "valid" enough to be considered in the race. And before you all start chiming and and saying something like "I do my own research".....yeh, you may, but about 80% of the "research" links I see put up are nothing more than links to the same media websites we claim to be thinking independantly of. Shame on us.

I couldn't agree more with you. People need to make up their own minds and stop relying on others, especially the media, to tell them what to do.

I think the whole effigy thing for both sides is appalling. I cannot understand why you Americans get so hot headed about the election. We have fear campaigns here as well but nothing like this sort of hatred that I have seen from both sides. I am not jealous of her at all, I am not jealous of anyone. I dislike her policies and her attitudes, I dislike all extreme right wing policies but then I dislike all extreme left wing policies as well. I believe in balance between them. I hate the way extremes are taking over everywhere.
