What would you do if you find an unclean toilet at your work?

I complained several times to my boss. I had to write several letters of complaints until he took the bull by it horns. We have a lame policy at our place of work that if a cleaner is absent there is no one to replace here and to do her job. I wonder f OSH has stipulations along restroom cleanliness?
Hmmm? May be something worth looking into if the place is a disaster really.
It can be a health hazard.

You obviously have a caring boss that listens! Good on you for speaking out! I was actually laughed at when I complained about people putting chewing gum in the urinal! I used my iniative to put a note up on the wall requesting people NOT to put chewing gum in the urinals but it was taken down! When you have that sort of management you just bash your head against a brick wall! But I would certainly say something and bring it to the appropriate person's attention.

I am the type that has a reputation as far as this.
If it was so dirty that it could not be used I'd tell the boss I have to run to the nearest gas station etc to use a CLEAN bathroom.

Ugggggghhhhhh! When I was working outside the home, this was a major issue. We had our own employee bathroom. The rule was, if the toilet paper roll is empty, replace it, if there are no paper towels on the roll, replace them, if the trash can is running over, empty it.
Well, everyone complained about the bathroom being such a mess, but no one did anything about it.
Every morning when I got to work, I would use the bathroom. The trash can ALWAYS needed emptying, and the sink always had liquid soap all over it. I always got a paper towel and cleaned off the sink, took out the trash bag and replaced it. When I was finished, I would take the trash bag out to the dumpster.
I am not sure, but I think that people thought the cleaning fairy came in every morning and cleaned it up. I am glad I am not there, still doing that.

If I wouldn't be allowed to do the job myself because of job policy then I would do as you did complain about it. Who wants to use a dirty toilet? Just to unsanitary.

I would talk to the people in charge of cleaing toilets, politely bring it to their attention, and go on, just as I would if there was no more toilet paper, or paper towels, or any other problem in the workplace.

hi ronaldinu I am retired but I did work at our local library and if I found an unclean toilet I told our branch manager and she would jump on the cleaning crew that came in
early in the morning to clean the library , toilets, and all, and vacumn the floors and replenish toilet tissue and all that stuff. She seldom had to complain as they usually did a very good
job of cleaning the whole library..

This is not the best idea, but my husbands boss makes everyone stay and clean if the housekeeper is sick. So after a 10-12 hour day, they could get stuck with cleaning too.

When I was working, I used to try holding on until I got home. I don't like using public toilets, and the one at work was a very small cubicle where everyone outside could hear noises and flushing when someone was in there. I was always worried the wall would fall in and everyone would see me sitting there!

Well, I am a stay at home mom. So, If I see an unlclean toilet at home. I take it upon mysel to clean it. Since we have two bathrooms. I do it twice. I scrub the toilets and tubs at leastonce a week whether they need it or not.

I'd like to think that the places I worked and the people I worked with were civilised so that this sort of thing would not be an issue. Most bathrooms have utensils in the cubicles for people to clean up after themselves so others don't have to.
If this was the case at work a sign would be put on the wall reminding people to leave the bathroom as they found it. The cleaner is not the one at fault here it is the people using the facility.

lol =D Actually that policy is good.. so that all the employees will know not to take the cleaniness of the toilet for granted, as well as the cleaner.. lol =D
IN everybody's mindset, most ple will be thinking why should be keep the toilet clean when there's a cleaner to do the job, and that keeping the toilet clean is not within their job scope.. haha =D But most ple din think that, a cleaner is also human, they are supposed to keep the toilet clean, but not clear up the mess after u.. haha
Thus, it's a way of making oneself aware of personal hygiene as well as public hygiene.. lol =D

I would probably clean it myself, then walk around and complain about it until I am just fed up.I would discuss this with a manager, leave signs, then eventually call the health department.
