What will be the election result for your state?

With the election coming up on Tuesday, how do you think your state is going to go? What do the polls say for your state? How do you think it will actually go?
I live in Maine and all of the polls are showing a significant lead for Obama. I agree that Obama will take the state but I think there is a slight twist that may make a very minor difference. Unlike most states, Maine has a provision that allows it to split its electoral college votes. I think McCain will win the northern 2nd congressional district in Maine. My prediction is that Maine will give 3 electoral votes for Obama and 1 for McCain. I know it is only one vote but most electoral maps do not make this distinction.
What about your state? I am really interested in those from the battleground states.

I live in Georgia. I don't think we're considered a battlrgound state. The latest polls that that I've seen for Georgia shows that the race is very close here. I'm encouraged by the turnout so far with early voting especially from the new and young voters sector. I believe Georgia will go to Obama.

http://www.electoral-vote.com does not have Georgia going to Obama at the moment, though it is true to say that he has cut McCain's lead and the latest clutch of presidential polls shows Obama trailing there by 5-6 points or so. So at this point I would still factor Georgia as being a McCain win, but if there is a very high turn out amongst young people and non-white voters, then it may just tip to Obama, what with the Barr factor in the mix as well.

Wow! talk about having to correct myself in real time! Just checked the website again which now shows McCain's lead in Georgia standing at only 3 points (49 to 46 %), so certainly if the young people and non-white voters do turn out in heavy numbers, Georgia may well be in play (though I wouldnt' be confident enough to put my money on an Obama win, but in view of this latest polling, well who knows??!!?)

I live in Florida which was expected to go to the Republicans until recently. Since Tuesday I have been spending about 15 hours a day at the University of Miami Medical Center with some family members and I have overheard the conversations at the smoking areas and the cafeteria, in waiting rooms and waiting for elevators, among hospital staff and visitors and there is a lot more talk about Barack Obama than there is about John McCain. Not a statistical survery by any means but an interesting observation of everyday people. I think the Democrats just might take Florida this time.

Spall, I sure hope whatever your reason is for being at the Medical Center isn't too serious and everything works out well. Since you're near a major university in a battleground state, what do you predict about the youth vote this time around? I've heard some TV reports saying that in the Miami area there have been a very large number of volunteers for the Obama campaign with most of them being students and people who could actually be their grandparents. Being right there in the middle of the action, do you think the Sarah Silverman Schlepping campaign is having an effect? I sincerely hope so!

Thanks for caring Annie. My brother-in-law had a total laryngectomy on Tuesday but we came to Miami on Monday afternoon since he was due at the hospital at 6:00AM. The operation itself went well...the surgeon believes that he got all of the cancer and he's due to be released tomorrow. We've been staying in a motel about three blocks from the hospital so the only places we've been are there and back here at the motel. The entire three block area is nothing but medical facilities so we've only encountered medical personnel, staff and students...residents, interns, fellows...and the great staff at this motel and restaurant. They're Greek and have treated us like family.
It's funny that you brought up Sarah Silverman's Schlepping campaign because I did hear one blue haired old lady commenting to another one that it took an election for her granddaughter to give her a call. Then they moved on to complaining about other family members but I was so tempted to ask her if she was going to vote!

I live in Florida so your guess is as good as mine.
Remember what happened with the last election in Florida.
Now keep in mind that we had the BUSH brother in office here....
He did a good job up until then. Then everything became a mess.
Votes got lost, stolen and disposed of, so our count was
not what it should have been... in favor of the brother.
Then when boxes of votes were found stashed away on a
moving truck they weren't allowed to use them. Florida is/was a democratic
state but somehow Bush got the votes.
Hummm wondering what it will be like this time around?
Anyway it is not for us to decide...the elector(s) has final say.
So no matter who gets the most votes per citizen. It may not be what
our electors vote in December. Individual voting is just a way for our government
to abide with the Constitution. Even if it is 80%/20% in favor of one. Our
elector(s) do not have to vote for the winner of those 80%. It can go either way.
After the fiasco before Florida is now said to be "barely democrat" .
If every ones vote got counted and we didn't have electors who voted as they saw fit, I think Obama would lose....
Florida has 27 so I dare not even try to guess on that one.

Hard to call here. I live right next door to you in New hampshire. I suspect, thanks to the massive invasion of flat-landers, we're going to go Obama. I'm not a religious person, but I'm praying to every god I can think of that we don't send that cambridge snoot, Shaheen, to the senate.
As for our state elections, I suspect Lynch will be Governor again and our senate won't change much, we'll still be stuck with that punk kid Merick and his mother again.
Just out of curiosity, the casino question, where do you stand on that, you voting yes? Cause I'm tired of having to drive all the way to Montreal and conneticut just to go to one. I spend a lot of time in Norway/Oxford and the sites their looking to build on are literaly a 2 minute drive down the road from my girlfriend's house.

I am voting yes on the casino bill for Maine. I am not much of a gambler myself but if people are going to spend money on it I would rather have them do it here in Maine then elsewhere. Maybe, it will help keep the governor out of my back pocket for a couple of days. I used to live in Rochester, NH and I really loved my time there. What happened to NH though? It used to be the only place with a little sanity in New England. I don't understand why everyone moves away from MA because they can't stand it then try to change their new state into MA. As far as the congressional seats, I am positive they will stay Dem for ME. I am also very sure that Collins (R) will beat Allen (D) for the senate. I don't think Allen gets any traction here in the 2nd district. I do get to enjoy a daily inspiration message from Pres. Clinton every day on my answering machine in support of Allen.

I live in NJ. So Obama is totally going to get it. NJ is been a blue state for a very long time. The democrats take states like New Jersey, for granted. Also in all the predicted map results are all showing that Obama is going to take it. And don't forget to Vote of Nov. 4. Expesially those who live in the battleground states.
