Hai Friend, I think God never destroy the earth by fire or water. He said in the Bible that He will never destroy earth with water any more. He tells that the humanbeing will kill each other. So human will destroy the earth with his cruel habits.

yes god did destroy the earth by water once you remember when god told noah to build a ark fo him and his family and the animals this was the first time god destroyed all the bad people they laughed at noah but they wasn,t laughing when that flood came and killed them all except noah and his family and the animal.then only 8 people survived and two of the kind of every animal.GEN 6:14 also 6:18 noah was 600 hundred year old when deluge of water occurred on the earth.GEN 7:6

Interesting the verses you quote! I believe the Bible is meant to be understood, otherwise, why would God have gone through all that trouble to preserve it to our day. Something I always do to better understand a Bible verse is read the context and cross reference with other Bible verses. The Bible is not a mystery and therefore will explain itself by referring to other parts of it. The scripture in 2 Peter 3:7 it says that the heavens and the earth are reserved into fire. One could easily come to understand that the earth will be destroyed by fire, but this is in direct conflict with the verse in Psalm 37:29 which says "the righteous themselves will posess the earth and reside upon it forever." You might also notice this small detail in the verse where it says: the heavens and the earth will be consumed by fire. How can the heavens (composed of stars and heavenly bodies) be burned when they're already on fire? This gives us a clue that the term used 2 Peter chapter 3:7 for "earth" is not used in a litteral sense but in a figurative sense referring to ungodly mankind. If you read the context in 2 Peter 3:5,6 it parallels the days of Noah the destruction by flood. The flood destroyed the ungodly humans and God saved Noah and his family (the only righteous ones at that time), but the earth was not destroyed. I'm not sure if my explanation is clear. Nevertheless, according to the Bible, God will not allow man to destroy the earth by neither a flood or by fire. Why would he destroy what is perfection!! The wicked, greedy people are the problem.

Since I am a nonbeliever, I don't care for any religious modes of destruction. I prefer the Earth to have a nice, long, and happy life. But looks like Peter prefers fire. :) Cheers and happy mylotting

God promise he will never destroy the earth by any means, neither water nor fire. But the devil with his evil followers will carry out the destruction though to challenge his existence and authority.

I don't agree with rainbow as a sign of God that He will never destroy earth, humans by water anymore! We still can see rainbows now, BUT, what about Tsunami on Aceh, killed about 250.000 people, and in India, Sri Lanka, Japan, etc??? If u a free thinker u will rethink about that belif!

I think the reason God said he would not destroy the earth with fire or water is simply because God knows everything and he knows that man will eventually finish the earth off. You can't expect to pull all the minerals and oil from the ground and pollute the earth so heavily with chemicals and not expect distruction. That's just my opinion.

I don't know what god has planned and I don't care either. If he intends to wipe me out with the rest of humanity, can I stop him? Cheers!!

hi annji, I belive - God will never destroy world or earth, god will only do "clensing" it could be in form of Virus "HIV", "Cancer" it could be in form of nature "tsunami" , "hurricane" But to destroy his children ... i dont think he will do that ... when he can send his son Jesus to forgive our sins ... how will he want to see us die in fire ... cheers
