still trying to eat out and money is short eating out can be expensive when you are on a budget.even a five dollar meal if you have four in the family it can be expensive.because you have to buy drinks and dessert by the time you leave there you can be out of 35 or 40 dollars easy.can you still eat out when the budget is so tight these days.

it is more practical to eat at home especially when we are low in budget. but there are times that we have to treat ourselves especially there is a celebration to make. you know sometimes people deserve something nice. so why not treat yourself? anyway, there are still some cheaper alternatives. it does not have to be that expensive.

Well I am going to add that it depends on the budget. I will say planning at least to go out once per month should be a good thing for the whole family, there are coupons that I get on the mail that are from buffets where people can have at least two children eating for free I think and adults regular. And it is all you can eat. So that's pretty good, right now restaurants are putting more specials. That's my opinion anyways, as it is I know of people that claim to be broke but I never see them walking anywhere on the weekends, that prefer to drive everywhere including to the store around the corner than to save that money they spend on gasoline for something else.

U can if u want to treat yourself and/or the family! But ultimately I'd say u might want to go shopping for things that will serve as a treat for u and your family within the home! Taripre$

Oh, I agree totally! I just wouldn't look at it as going outside of the budget, long as these "rare" treats are within the budget. Taripre$

I do not think eating out is good when on a budget. I rarely ever eat out and when I say rarely I mean like once a month rarely. I am trying to stick to my budget and plus I do not mind cooking at home all the time.

The best way to save money i guess is cook by ourselves and eating at home. You can buy dishes what you like in the supermaket. They are cheap. And most important is that the dishes made by yourselves are all very clean.

Right now, I'm on a really tight budget and I really can't afford eating out that often. I used to buy at McDonald's at least twice every week (and eat in restaurants aside from that) when my budget was still good. Right now, I have quite a pile to pay up and small sacrifices are necessary for me to be able to pull through daily. I need to save for my family as well so for now, I really have set eating out aside. Time will come, we'll be able to eat more freely again.

I think someone can still eat out even if they are on a budget, but it just means that eating out becomes an occasional treat rather than anything regular. We have always been on a budget, it is how I run things everything has a budget. So extras for eating out are very few and far between and we get to eat out every couple of months or so.

we can still eat out even the budget is tight but we dont do that daily. i can say that we can still be eating out once or twice a month. if your budget is tight it will be more practical to cook at home than to eat out. there are a lot of easy to cook recipe on the net. i myself is trying to cook though my wife is a good cook i want to learn too

yes that is true, when we go out to eat we just dont eat out, we make sure we are satisfied as well. we make sure we dont eat just on fast food and not on food that my wife can prepare at home. we make sure we eat something real special. it may be expensive but worth.

We used to eat out almost everyday, as I reached home rather late, and sometimes felt too tired or lazy to cook. However now that prices skyrocketed, we have decided to eat more meals at home. It's definitely cheaper and healthier.

it's more practical to eat at home when you are on a tight budget since you can create 1-3 meals if you only have $25 left in your pocket.. i used to eat out every week but now that i have my flat, i've learned how to save and prioritize things..

I am not really interested in eating outside. I would rather stay at home and cook my own food also for saving a lot of expenses and I can also assure that the food we prepare is safe and nutritious!

You're right. It can be hard to live on a budget and be able to go out to eat with a family of even four when you add things up. My family doesn't do that too much anymore. We got to stay within our budget what with the bills and everything. I just have my husband and son but that can be very costly if we eat out to dinner too much.

Eating at home is really a great way to save, but I realize that it can get old and boring. It is a good idea to go out at least once a month. If you find a way to earn an extra $30.00 to $40.00 you won't really have to dip into the budget money. Someone here said something about making $10.00 writing letters. I don't know the whole scoop yet because I just responded back and I"m waiting for a reply. If someone purchases 4 letters that's $40.00. That would help.

Absolutely not. I will not eat out when I am on a budget and the budget in so tight. I think the best way is eat home. Do some delicious food at home share it with my family, that make me feel good. So eat home-made food is a good idea.

Since moving out back in June, I've seen how much I used to spend eating out.. I've learned to cook more things and have eaten out a LOT less, although when I do eat out (fast food only) I get items off the dollar menus. I also avoid getting drinks while eating out, as I can get $0.50 drinks at my work or I'll just bring a can or two of soda from home. I can't see paying $2.00+ for a single drink anymore.

Yes of course...Eating out is something meant to eat up all your money or at least thats true for me because I spend about 80 percent of my pocket money only on eating out while my mother has to throw out all my share of food that she cooked for me so its double trouble as you are wasting your money as well as your parents money. So I don't see the point as to why you say that you are on a budget when you want to eat out.:-) But that does not mean that you should kill your tongue by eating only home cooked food but a timely treat would do good and it would also add more flavour as you would long for something when it is rare to come by....

you could be saving a lot of money by eating mom cooking you are eating all your money up in food it,s ok to treat yourself sometimes but 80% this is a lot money to spend on food and mom is preparing food at home well maybe you don,t want to save money maybe things are not tight for you and your family i can respect that but iam on a buget unless special accasion thank you for sharing
