Every time we dine out, I can not help but notice how people drink their soft drinks, juices and any other beverages. Some of them drink using straws, some with glasses and some directly through the mouth of the bottle. Do you think there are factors affecting why we have different ways of drinking? Like being feminine or masculine? I do use straw whenever I drink specially if it is in public places. But when I am in the house I use glasses. How about you, what do you use for drinking?

Yes, I've noticed that everyone has different ways of drinking, be it a straw, or the glasses, or the cans, or just using the bottle. As for me, it always depends. If I'm out, and I get a bottled drink, and usually the straws are short so I'll just use the bottle to drink.
If it's a can, I usually pour it in a glass filled with ice if the place provides one and drink it out of the straw. There are sometimes, when I do drink out of the can, but I always make sure that the can is clean. :)
But usually, even at home, I'll pour the drink in a glass and I'll drink it with a straw.. I'll only drink with the glass if my mouth is really dry and I need to wet my lips.. :)
Thanks for creating an interesting topic. Sure it's very mundane cause we do it everyday and don't notice it, but it's really nice to suddenly realise and talk about it.. :)
Have a great day and god bless!

Hmmm very interesting topic you have here. I never really thought about it until now! LOL At home I drink from a glass but when I am out at a restaraunt I use a straw. I have straws at home but wouldn't even think about using one! LOL
Maybe it is because at home I do more sipping than actually drinking and when I am out I drink more.
My husband does the same as I do. Maybe it's because you are wondering how many lips have touched that glass in the retaraunt and you feel safer using a straw! Tonight everyone will be going to dinner taking their own drink with them all because of this discussion! LOL
Have a great day!

Thanks for your comment fasttalker! I really find time to think of any topics I can post here. I guess the simpler the more it can get people's attention to comment..I just think people have their own preferences about their ways of drinking that's why I have come up with this topic..Have a nice day!

most of the time when we dine in food establishments, i drink using a straw. when the attendants serve our drinks without straws, i ask for it and i clean the straw first by blowing it inside.
i think it is easier to drink with straw than drinking straight from the glass. i also think that drinking from a bottle is hard so whenever i order a bottled drink, i ask for a glass where i can pour the bottle contents.

if i'm at home and drinking cold tea, soda, punch, juice, etc. then i drink out of a glass with no straw or ice. if it's an individual sized drink then i drink out of the bottle. i hate drinks in cans.
if i'm out to eat and order cold tea, soda or water then i use a straw. drinks in US restaurants are always huge and iced, the tiny chips of ice get in my way. the straw just makes it easier. plus i just don't like ice very much, to swallow it or crunch it in my teeth makes me cringe!
i'm not sure if using straws is considered more feminine everywhere but some men just will not use them over a certain age.

Hello Meticulo,
I used to don't bother about what I use for drinking, I usually go on what is available. If they don't have a straw, then I would drink with glasses, if they don't have both, then I would go on drinking through the mouth of the bottle. Well, call me Cowgirl, but I don't want to ask something they don't have. I feel sometimes awkward to drink direct from the mouth of the bottle because it seems a boyish act but I do tell myself, I am thirsty, why do I need to care what others will say.

I use straw when I am outside like restaurant, coffee shop. I usually use glass when I am at home. But sometimes I also use bottle to drink especially after playing badminton or jogging.

I drink alot of liquids, especially water. I drink from a glass at meal time using a straw. I use a thermos when drinking tea and from the bottle when drinking pop. Water i use a plastic container to drink from although i don't drink bottled water.

I think your opinion is true. I notice that some people like to use a bottle, a glass and also glass with pipe. I always use glass when drinking whether I'm in public place or in my own house. I fell more comfortable with it.
Keep post

When I go out to eat I will use a straw because I'm clumsy and spill a lot, lol. But, I started using straws when I was in elementary school and spilled a whole thing of milk all over me, I was embarrassed and started using a straw to drink from there on. I don't feel it's about being feminine or masculine for me, it's just about being clumsy.

i usually use glass when drinking at home but uses straw when drinking at malls and other public areas. i think it is just a matter of being used at using whatever people likes. it does not follow the gender though.

My drinking style is varried and depends on the places where i am, When at home i drink from the glass, as in, i sip the soda or water from the glass or from the bottle hahaha. But when i was in the public palces, well i practice my feminine side, so i drink with straw and sip is gorgeously lolz. Cheers.
