Teach the kids How should you teach your kids to manage their money and stay out of debt? Should this be taught in schools?

Hi. I think this should be teach by the parents. At a young age, parents should teach their child how to save, what important things they need to be. Also, they must be a good example so that their child will imitate them. Takd care

For me, this can be taught not only at school but by the parents too at home. They must teach the kids how to managed thier own money so tht when they grow up, they are not strugglingon thier money manangement. Parents must teach too what to buy and what not to buy for thier money. Happy posting.

I think there are some things like this taught. Do you take your kids with you to the store? Teach them about comparative shopping and how to budget when it comes up. Teach them how not to make the mistakes you may have made when you were young so they can manouver past that.

I do think they should teach some money management classes in school . I also think that parents should teach this at home by both example and by teaching good money management. Both of my kids are grown now and they both do pretty good. When they were old enough to start getting an allowance I started them a savings account. When I first started giving them an allowance it was $5.00 and they had to put $1 in their savings account. As they got older and their allowance increased their savings increased. This was just one of the simple lessons that we tried to instill in them. As they got older their savings accounts became checking accounts and we taught them how to balance thier accounts and did the best we could trying to teach good management in front of them. They both have good jobs and they seem to manage their finances well.
