Figured there must be at least a few fellow Canucks on here so thought I'd start a thread devoted to all things Canadian. A few things that come to my mind when I think of Canada are ...
Wayne Gretzky
Hockey
Beer
Toques
Let's here it folks and make this the ultimate Canadiana thread!

I'm not Canadian and have never been to Canada but I have a lot of relatives there.
Did you Canadians know that there is a large population of Icelanders in Canada? There are even many towns there with Icelandic names.
In the 18th century, life in Iceland wasn't very easy and volcanic euruptions destroyed houses, blanketing huge areas with ash, killing animals and starving people.
Thats why around 1870 Icelanders started moving to other countries and apparently, the ones who moved to Canada sent letters home that inspired more and more of them to move.
Their dream was to found their own colonay, a land where the Icelanders could stay together, speak their language and keep their customs. This land was found in the district of Keewatin, nort of the newly formed province of Manitoba. New Iceland followed the shore of Lake Winnipeg from Winnipeg Beach to Icelandic River, about 42 miles long and 11 miles wide.
If you are interesting in reading more about it, you'll find good information on this link: www.umanitoba.ca/faculties/arts/Icelandic/IceCan/history.htm
Hey! Maybe we are related!
