i guess most of you guys are out of the house to join in the trick or treat celebration. here in my country we only have that in the malls where parents bring their kids in the mall for trick or treat where goodies are given this usually happens on a weekend before the last day of October. What we have here is the all saints day and all souls day which takes place on the 1st and 2nd of November. families visits the cemetery to give respect there departed love ones. usually candles and flowers are brought and for some this is a time to celebrate and have a reunion in the cemetery. what are you itinerary for today? are you joining the trick or treat or just stay at home?

the trick or treat in our village was held last saturday. i didn't join. i just bought candies and goodies for those who participated in the activity. it was really fun since alot of kids joined the said program. my nieces and nephews also joined. 2 of them won the best costume awards in their respective age level. the organized also gave free doughnuts and juice. it was successful and i feel good to have contributed to its success.

Halloween turned out to be a pretty good day actually. My children had decided that they did not want to go trick or treating this year as it is pretty cold. I decided to do something for them at home instead, so I did them a load of party food for tea and then I painted their faces for them and then I set up a treasure hunt for them to find their sweets. I hid them in the garden and when they went out there to find them my hubby was hiding from them and he jumped out on them and scared them!

We normally don't celebrate or observe trick or treat here in NZ. My kids though are starting to catch on, as the world (and the internet) catch up with us and overseas customs become more commonplace. As we live rurally, I wont allow my kids to go knocking on other peoples doors, I don't think its right, and those other people work hard for what they have and shouldn't have to have their leisure time disrupted by neighbours kids on the hunt for lollies and such. So..on my 10 year old Daughters suggestion, I went to our local supermarket and bought a couple of bags of lollies which I preceded to hide in various places in the house. MrsL® and I have written clues as to where said lollies are and the kids have had to find them. The little "Sherlocks" didn't take too long to find them and are munching as I type! Horror dvd'such as "Saw" 1,2 and 3 are here also, so I'm just waiting for the screams, or the odd child waking me in the middle of the night 'cause they can't sleep! hehehe To ALL of you.. a very Happy Halloween... Enjoy, Relax, and ALL the very best! MrL®

I have been busy since yesterday preparing the flowers for our mother and sister and other relatives. You see, our family has this tradition of going to mass on the 31st morning then go to the cemetery to visit our departed ones. Then, today i was busy again preparing our food to be brought to the cemetery, i do all the shopping , the cooking and yes, i also did make the bouquets of flowers. We give flowers and candles to all departed relatives. This is one occasion where we contribute for all the expenses so it won't be too much of a burden to all of us. But after all the preparation i did and cooking and all i am now here at home all alone for they are already at the cemetery while i await my turn to go because nobody is going to be watching the house, my father doesn't want to leave the house locked up. so, i am here mylotting while i wait for him to get home and comes my turn to go.
