Not necessarily.
Some foods have acid in them (like lemon, lime, tomatoes, etc.) and the acid may leach some metals out of metal containers. This is why lead is no longer used in cans used to store food. On the other hand, tin, steel and aluminium have long histories of successful use in storing food. And, in any case, some metal storage containers are actually coated with lacquer on the inside to prevent food contacting the metal. Most users would not notice this interior coating.
If you cook food in a cast iron pan, some of the iron in the pan will leach into the food. This doesn't poison you. It is actually good for you if you don't get enough iron from other food sources.
Storing food in metal container can affect the taste of the food.

I doubt food stored in metal is harmful to you as we have been eating out of tins for about 100 years and we seem to be doing ok with it.
Did you know the tin opener was invented quite a few years after the tin cans... I still wonder how we opened the tins before the can opener!! Now thats one for us to think about.
