My allow my daughters aged 10 and 6 to use internet as a mechanism to do research on their subjects and improve upon what is taught at school. They find this very interesting too to research on the net and find new information and games which help them in studing. I do take care that they do not move to any unwanted sites as the net is full of good as well as bad ones. Do you allow your children to use net freely?

As with all parenting, you need to bring up your children to be able to be trusted and to choose themselves between good and bad. On the internet the majority is useful and it is far better to allow them to use the internet than watch TV. When you turn on the TV you turn off your brain. When you use the internet it is interactive and the children's curisotity and thirst for knowledge will drive them to learn and learn. That is very positive. However it should still be limited to 1-2 hours per day and you should guide them so you are aware the sort of things they are looking at. As they grow older you will learn to trust them and they will hopefully steer clear of the worst sites.
