With a change in technology and arrival of digital cameras i think there has been a shift in the way one stores family images. I now simply copy them to my pendrive and view them when ever we need to remember our past on the computer itself. The need to keep them as prints has simply eliminated. Do you store your images on the computer or in print ?

I still add my album collection, from the birth of my children until they have children of their own.Even with the latest technology I still buy albums because photographs are forever.I'm afraid another technology will come out in the market and my collection of pictures in cd will be phased out just like the betamax.I've lost fondest memories of my children's birthday.I do not want to eliminate my collection in prints. It is a treasure for me.

I feel that if a new technology would be developed certaintly with it would come some software and hardware to convert our current dvds to that new era. Still for precaution sake maintaining the collection which one treasures in prints is a good idea.

yes..nowadays people storing in computer itself. no need to scan the photos for mailing.all came easy. but i always select best pictures taken from my cam, and i develop those pictures and make my Album Decorative.
i store all the images by burning it in CD or DVD. but i print those pictures which i like the most.
it is really dangerous that we keep those pictures (or any files)without nay backup. we cannot say when will OS crash. so i always store except C drive. and i will not make any delay in taking a cd or dvd Backup!

Yes there are pros and cons to everthing and we need to see that our pictures remain safe and maintaining dvds for the same would help. Getting the exceptional ones printed and adding to albums or may be displayed on the room walls would be a good idea.

I still keep them in the album. The homesickeness you feel when you turn the pages of an album is a rare experience and I think one will not experience the same sensation while watching it online.Though I upload the photos in flickr I prefer ruminating the past memories by perusing the photo album. The advantage in storing photos in electronic medium is that ,one, it won't get damaged as in the case of album as the gum might be eaten by micro organisms or even the paper. The other merit is space saving. You can save a lot of space by storing all your photos online or in an electronic medium.

Yes there are two sides to the same coin. I have got my photo albums converted to electronic medium and even my marriage videos are now in dvds. I think they are now easy to maintain and antime i can simply carry them on my pendrive anywhere i want.

Nice observation there. Yeah, I still have some photo albums for our pictures however, I did notice as well that most of our pictures are already on DVDs. They are quite a lot compared to those that are in print but the memories on those pictures feel a lot different when you view them from the photo album. I do have lots of pictures stored in the computer taken from digital cameras. Technology kicked in.

Most of my photographs are on the computer itself now. I find them much easy to carry them in my pendrive or just store them online and access them from anywhere i want.

i got a digi cam of sony four years back. before that it was a plain camera. it was fun. you know the adjustment in that was sometimes awesome and sometimes awful. sometimes the head is not there ,somewhere the arm is gone. it is fun looking at those. i have scanned them all and made dvds of them..

Yes i do... photos in a photo album have a different feel to them... they feel more real... more personal. In this day and age digital photography makes capturing memories so easy. But i still like to print many of my memories to page through them.

I have both types of storage with me. I like keeping an album to store my family photographs because it can bee seen as well be touched. I like to buy pretty photograph albums and put it in the album racks and use them as items to display. Whenever there are visitors they can look at the albums and it can be used as a way to start a good conversation, or as an ice breaker if we are just getting started to know each other.
I also like to keep photographs in my computer. These pictures are mainly taken using my digital camera from the hand phone and the quality is as good as the ordinary camera. By using the digital camera, I am able to take endless numbers of picture because it doesn't cost me anything to get the pictures into my computer. If I want to print the pictures, it will cost me some money for the paper and the ink.
As a conclusion, I like both ways of storage.

We still have albums of our photos, but since I love technology and gadgets, I prefer storing digital photographs in my portable drives as well as on CDs and DVDs. To make it more interesting, I would create a photo DVD with captions and music which can be enjoyed by the whole family as well as friends.

Hi Friends
Yeah ,technology has changed and and has brought changes in photography too.Though i use digital camera,to take snaps,i store them in cds and copy them into my computer. But still i maintain a family photo album.I just love keeping albums. And i feel gifting a photo album to a loved one, would be a great idea.Whenever i look at the album,my thoughts get refreshed.

Our old family photos are still being kept in albums and a safety box. But, as you have said, technology suddenly changed the way we keep or view things including photos. These days, I keep my digital photos in CDs and print only the good shots. I actually seldom print photos of my own, only those that I will give to my relatives for keepsake. I have one bag of CD's where I keep my photos. I arranged it by month and year so that I can easily find the photos that I am looking for. Aside from burning them in CDs, I also upload them to the internet such as online photo albums. That way, my family abroad can also view the photos immediately and they can also look at them anytime they want.
