HELP : White pipe sticking out of the ground?

I am planning to buy a house. and the house has this white plastic looking pipe sticking out of the ground about a feet high. Is this an oil tank? Or something else. I current owner does not know? Please help me. thanks is advance.

I would hope that the title documents for the property would show you! Otherwise it might be an air vent for an underground sewer. It might not be anything.
Check with all the utility suppliers as well to see if they recognise it.

thanks a lot, but the pipe is sealed so i don't think it is a air vent.

Maybe it was an air vent and has been replaced? It may still be connected. Is there any kind of name or marking on the pipe?
