If you have some founds on your paypal account and you buy something on let say ebay, when you pay do they take that money you already have on paypal account or do they take it from your credit card?

If you had enough balance in paypal, then it won't deduct from your credit card. In case there is no balance or insufficient funds in your paypal account, then the remaining funds which was left after deducting the funds, will be charged from the credit card. Hope this helps you. Thank You.

Anyway, you can select how you want to charge them, from paypal or from credit card. If you haven't change any option there, then it will charged as I said before.

I think you can tick a box to where you want it to come from, sometimes they do take it from your credit card if you just have around theright amount in your Paypal account as this has happened to me...but i noticed you can tick a particular box...

Yes I understand that they take it from the credit card if there isnt enough on the paypal account. I will check in my profile if there is really a box I need to tick. Thanks for the advice!

If you have money in your paypal account when you buy an item from Ebay or any other website they will deduct the money from your paypal account first. Your visa balance will not be touched. However if you buy an item and you don't have sufficient funds in your paypal account then they will withdraw money from visa. © ronaldinu 2008

I know that for ebay, if you have enough money in your paypal account & as long as you pick paypal as your payment option, it will take it out of your paypal account, not your credit card. If you don't have enough in your paypal, it will tap into either your credit card or your bank account. But on your bank statement, it will show as your paypal taking the money out, not the vendor.

Aha, so they will take it from that account first. Thats good to know. Thank you!

How do you have it set up? You can have it taken from either one. When you first register on Ebay you can set it up to have all your transactions go through PayPal. It is very convenient that way.

Yes I have that, and it always takes from my credit card. But till now I never had any fonds on the paypal account so normaly they would take the money from my credit card. Now i wasnt sure anymore if the fonds will stay on my paypal account and they will take the money from my credit card or what. I guess I'll have to chck in my paypal profile to see what's said there. But I totally agree what you said about having all the transaction on ebay through paypal...its so easy and convinient. Thank you.

I think there will be two options that you can choose from: 1. Deduct money from you Paypal account as long as you have sufficient fund. 2. Transfer money from you bank account that could be a credit card or saving account that you have registered with Paypal. Last time when I bought an item on Ebay, because I didn't have enough fund then I chose to transfer from my bank account though this method will cause a delay of 5-7 working days while with Paypal balance, it will be immediate. Hope this helps.
