AS you all know, my husband cannot get around that well without a walker, because of his stroke and that includes getting off the couch. He has been using a wooden rocking chair propped against the old couch so we decided to buy a new sofa and easy chair that would be easier to get out of.
The easy chair is a recliner, not the rocking kind, but it has an electrical operating mechanism while the sofa has the two sides that recline manually =the guy in the middle is out. And is it easy comfortable.
What with the pool table taken down, the basement will be started soon. We got a new faucet for the bathroom so there are no leaks there anymore. Oh yes I suppose you think we are sitting pretty, but no way. Now our dishwasher motor has stopped working.
It never rains but it pours. Has anyone had the feeling that something else is going to go wrong?

Yes, I constantly feel like my life is one wrong thing after the other. It mostly comes by phone calls, lol.

With us, it is everything breaking down after we decide to get something new. ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

You're right about it bever rains it pours. Whenecer I get confident about getting on top of our budgat, another emergency expense arises. Something you have not allowed for. We built up our savings account, but then found out we have to travel to Australia, and stay there for an extended perod, We will have to start saving all over in 09. Things in the developing word are cheaper, but don't last long, so we're always paying out for repairs to our plumbing and electrical utilities, Good luck suspensful.

At least this delays the moving to the plus 55 apartment.
Sometimes I do not understand my husband. I think fix up the house to make it easier to live in. He thinks fix up the house to sell it. So why can we not live in a nice fixed up house instead of the buyers?

It sounds like your husband really wants to move into a 55+ housing. Would that be so bad? Would the living there be less comfortable? I'm 68 and I still have not given a thought to being elderly, but unlike your husband, I'm in good health. I'm sure you'll work out what's best for you both.

I understand the necessity for those things. You're not blowing money at all, you're trying to get by as well as you can. My grandfather has dementia, diabetes, and has had many strokes. My grandmother tries her best to take care of him, and seeing her when I do, I can't imagine how you and she do it! My grandma is trying to keep him at home for as long as she can. He is 74, she is 72, and although my mom makes the 3 hour trip as often as she can, all the pressure is on my grandma.
It's not like you and your husband want to have new, cool stuff, you really need it! And like you, my grandparents seem to have things 'pop' up when they can least afford it. Last time it was the plumbing in the bathroom.

I want to stay in the house as long as possible. I am 65, my husband is 62. It certainly is not fair when you find that you may have diabetes because your father had it, and my husband will be in danger from more strokes because of what happened to his oldest sister and his mother and grandmother, not to mention on his father's side of the family. I know if we moved into a plus 55, I would be so depressed, not seeing kids that much. So I am determined we stay here at least until one of us reaches their eighties.

I wonder why? I hope it is not that old Canadian adage I heard that you have to save twice for everything in case something happens.

Sometimes I have the feeling that nothing else is left to go wrong when it comes to things breaking down. What color is the chair and sofa?

Suspenseful, maybe it ricocheted. Went wrong at MY house.
I just found out I've been scammed for several thousand dollars. I'm ruined.
I sincerely hope things go better for YOU!

I'm been praying that we do not move into a plus 55 apartment complex as my husband wanted. He wanted to move when we got the house fixed up, so the longer it takes, the better.

Oh, we constantly feel like it is time for something else to go wrong. We have lots of plumbing repairs to do. I think your dishwasher must have gotten jealous.
and it wants some attention too. I am glad your new furniture is easy and comfortable. Your home is your best investment and it should be your comfortable haven.

I will have to wash dishes by hand now. That means less time on myLotting. There are other things we have to get done, and that new furniture cost a bit of money. Trouble is with my husband not being able to do much, and me being clumsy, we have to get our sons to do it.

That seems to be the way it always happens, when something breaks it happens in threes...Well congratulations on your new furniture,i know you are happy about that..I do hope that recliner gives your hubby much pleasure..It usually always happens that way for me, when one thing goes wrong i know something else will follow..

I know what you mean because our hot water tank started to leak and we had to get it replaced. The big thing is the water tank was a high energy efficent one. That stuff is all nice and well when everything is working but it's another story when they need to be replaced. It cost us 1,400.00 that's the tank and to have it installed. So now we're just hoping and praying nothing else will pile up.

You think that is bad? We had to replace ours twice. Luckily there was an energy discount at the time. I think the new one was energy efficient. Now the next big thing besides getting the basement done, would be a new furnace.

It is good that you are able to get those items. Now your husband will have an easier time. With home ownership something always comes up. It can be like waiting for the other shoe to drop. Seems like you are usually prepared.

I'm so glad you got your furniture, that will make life a whole lot easier!
Yes, I'm always planning for something to go wrong. I save like crazy, which is a good thing because the last thing to go wrong was that my chimney was so old the morter had flaked away and rain was getting into the attic. That cost a pretty penny! Wiped out my savings account but I'm so glad I had it there. I'm putting everything I can into savings again (still!) for the next disaster!

I know exactly what you mean!! Our financial situation changed recently. My mother, my daughter and I had lived together for the last 7 years, since my father passed on. She has a lot of medical problems and a few months ago she became very sick and had to go into a nursing home. This is the best place she can be because they can give her the care she needs, but without her income, it has been difficult. The car window has been acting up and sometime won't go down. I guess when it gets suck down I'll have no choice but to fix it. Seems like I'm always waiting for the axe to fall and something else to go wrong. I really hope anything else will wait until after the holidays. This will probably be the last year my daughter believes in Santa, so I want it to be a special one.

I am glad to hear that you were able to get new furniture for your husband to get around easier.
I know what you mean when it rains it pours. I have been lucky that nothing has gone wrong lately around here-knock on wood!
Hope everything works out for you.

Hi ,
I am glad the newer things finally came and now your hubby can have it much easier . I do understand the saying when it rains it sure does pour buckets . Little rain shower we all can take , but storms are just too hard . But what iis that saying it cant rain all the time . Or you need some rain to get a rainbow . I think usually things work out and it just takes time .
My fiance has this line it will work now for the time being ! I hate that line really if you ask me . It sucks always waiting for the next shoe to drop.
With my life it seems when something is fixed or going right something else always happens and will leave us worse off .
I had a tough summer my parents stayed with us for 3 months . My father got sick and they found out he had congestive heart faliure and well he in the hospital their sewer backed up and they lost everything , so they stayed with us while the house was getting all cleaned and fixed up . They were very blessed my aunts did most of the work and paid . well , we all pitched it . Anyway , here where i live we got a whole bunch of new things and at the same time that is when my parents moved it , and i was happy to have them , and take care of my dad . well , help teach him his new life style . sure it was nice having them ,but they brought with them 4 cats 2 in which were wild cats and didnt know how to use the little box , and 4 puppies , and a dog that is horrible in going to the bathroom . I didnt want all those animals here , but there was nothing i could do . they would not listne and begged with me to please keep them . well , i crated and gated up the house , but over time they let them out and ungated . The result was a torn up couch and love seat i mean the stuffing all torn out , the walls and end tables all chewed up , things just peed on , carpets stained , and the list goes on . O h it was like a mini zoo and the smell was so bad .
Also , both my parents dont work and i had to pay for meds , and food , and everything and that left me in a big hole , and i dont think i can climb out of it . I am suffering so much since they went back home .
Also, i was selling wholesell and making some extra money and the guy just skipped out on me and i owe so much money its not even fun . Right now i would be happy for just a little ray of sunlight !
i know what it is like to suffer trust me , but you just gotta keep going , and believe that things will get better . Please try to stay strong and i hope everything works out for you .
bless you and the hubby
