Do You Have Dreams That Come True?

While responding to a post about ghosts, I recalled an incident my mother told me about as a child. My mom was in a bad (abusive) marriage. She was desperate to get out. Because of her religion she could only divorce under certain conditions. She prayed over it but thought she was destined to be unhappy because she didn't receive any answers. One day she was feeling really bad, she had just gotten into an altercation with my dad. He left the house and returned with a gun. He told her that his friend want him to keep it there. She told him that he couldn't leave it there but he insisted. She stared at the gun, rage building inside her. She had imagined herself picking up the gun and shooting my dad. She decided that she'd better go to her meeting at the Hall instead. When she returned home she felt much better and she discovered the gun was gone (lucky for my dad, he decided to honor my mom's wishes and give the gun back to his friend). Later that night she had a series of dreams. She dreamed that my father was having an affair. She then dreamed that he had left out of town on business. Her last dream was of pictures and film. She dreamed that these pictures were in a box on the top shelf of the cabinet over the closet in our kitchen.
When she woke up that next morning, she made breakfast for us. My father told her he had to leave town for a show over the weekend (He's a comedian). When he left that morning to go to work, she grabbed a chair from the kitchen table, dragged it over to the closet, climbed onto it and pulled open the cabinet above the closet. There were two shelves; she stood on her toes to reach the top shelf and was able to grab onto a box which couldn't be seen where it rested by someone of her height. In the box were pictures of a woman. The picture that rested on the very top was the picture my mother saw in her dream. She said it was the same person, the exact pose and the woman's name was on the back. The film reels were there also but she didn't want to look at those.
She'd never even paid attention to those cabinets before because she couldn't reach them. She never considered using them. I suspect my father knew this which is why he stashed the pictures there.
This really bothered her. The fact that he was having an affair was heartbreaking but the fact that she dreamed of a woman whom she had never met and never heard of, was very unnerving to her. This woman as it turns out didn't even live in the same state as we did. There was no way for her to have known about those pictures except through her dream. She decided instead of being freaked out by it she would consider it an answer to her prayer. She had been given what she needed to get out her marriage.
I haven't had any dreams come true but I have had other strange things happen to me. My grandmother has dreams that come true. She has a series of dreams that tell her about her family members or close acquaintances. If She dreams about fish, hair, brooms or witches someone in the family is going to have a life changing event. I forgot what each of those things mean but in general they mean, someone is pregnant, dieing, coming into money or very sick. I know when she dreams about someone being sick, it's not common cold sick, it's unexpectedly sick. Usually it's something like pneumonia, car accident, tumor, anything that may get you hospitalized for a couple of days but isn't life threatening.
I find this all very interesting, especially since I know first hand of the experience. Does anyone else have dreams that come true?

Yeah. This is really interesting. My dreams come true in a way that.. For example, in my dream. I went to the mall and saw this clothing. Then in real life, I would find myself experiencing the dream in real life. It's like some sort of deja vu. It's weird. Simple things like that for me.

If those dreams are coming true for you, that's great. Those are simple nice dreams. Can you dream me up extremely gas efficient vehicle and lower gas prices? I'd greatly appreciate it!
I hope you continue to dream good things!

I didn't know this happened to anybody else! I have dreams that come true too, but not very often. I would dream about something, and then I would find myself doing the same thing in real life. Sometimes I get a whole scene, sometimes it's just a flash of a picture. But I can still always recognize what I'm doing and where this happened before, and then I think,"Oh, I had a dream that this would happen" and just ignore it.
One time, I had a dream when I was in my basement playing a computer game I haven't played in forever. And I woke up the next day thinking,"Huh, why would I be playing that?" And sure enough, I went down to the basement and played the game, forgetting until that moment that I had a dream that this would happen. And it's so weird! I kinda hate when it happens because I get this weird jolt that runs through me and that's when I remember.

There are stories of this talent all the time, I think thoughts are more than just passing energy, I think they are present for a long time and it's just a matter of tuning in to them. In your Mom's case, your Dad may have been concerned about the fact that he had the pictures and so the thought was there for your Mom to pick up.
Doies this seem logical to you?

This sounds possible. I never thought of that. I'll have to research that aspect of it. It's a very interesting view.

some times it feels more like a curse because if you see a lot of negative i feel like i caused it or could have prevented it (which is impossible but i think anyone that has it a lot would wonder after awhile) and then if you just are depressed or upset about something you might have dreams that seem exactly like the ones that come true but they dont and if you try to warn people they think your crazy!!

Sup big sis? Well, my dreams help me solve some problems and gives me ideas! Nothing have ever come true, as far as, success or some sort of premonition or anything! Just ideas, like songs, or new ways to make money, or how to deal with your ex sister in law..lol!

Hey, maybe those dreams kept you from killing my ex sister in-law, by giving you insight on how to handle her outrageous behavior. Or maybe they just kept me from killing her!

sometimes. I will dream about meeting someone or talking to someone and then the next day or 2 it happens, it's really freaky when I have a dream about a whole event taking place and it does, this also happens to my mom and sister. My mom kept having dreams about holding alittle boy for a few nights about a week later I found out and told her I was pregnant, that was my first, when she started having the dreams again she asked if I was pregnant I didn't know at the time but took a test a few days later and was, she also has these dreams when any of her siters get pregnant, she knows before we even do! My sister had a dream about going to a friends house and the little siter was being mean to a cat and my sister saved it. She loves cats, that weekend everything she said and described in the dream happened, it was like dejavu! Sometimes I get a feeling about someone and thave a dream about them and then i can know wheather or not to trust them.

Your dreams seem to offer you insite to your life and that's great. Your mom is really in tuned to her girls! You all must be very close. My grandmother's that way. She's very in tuned to everyone. We try to keep stuff from her and she just always knows. It's spooky!

Well some might not remember their dreams and that is why they have a sense of Deja vu when they go somewhere or see someone. I am glad your mom had the sight so it was able to help her out of a bad relationship.

I think this happens with some people. My sister says God speaks to her through dreams and sometimes my dreams do have a lien on reality.
I also believe you have to be a person of faith for this to take place, anyway.
Dreams do reflect our lives in the symbolic sense, so if you get insights into your life through dreams then its real, of course.

I agree with that statement. Thanks for the spin on it, it's sounds so elementary when you explain it; like it's perfectly normal. I think that it's more common than people will admit. Maybe if it was discussed more we'd know just how prevalent it is.

I do remember one dream that came true. The dream that I had that came true happened last year, though it only came true recently.
In my dream, I was in class and all the desks were in a rectangle. Two people were at the corner of this rectangle and I was sitting next to one, on her left. All I remember is that I turned to my right to look at one of the girls at the corner and she began to talk about something. That is all I remember from the dream. I dismissed it and thought that it was simply a dream.
However, this dream happened to come true in my playwriting class, with the same two people that were in my dream.

yeah, i have already dreams that come true.. My "dreams come true" just happen last month dated October 7, 2008. We have a photo and video coverage that day. And i don't really expect that our city's special guest would be my favorite philippine senator. His name is no other than Manny Villar. And I really jump for joy the first time i saw him.. You know Villar is my favorite senator since highschool and i never forget him because he's one of the person who have helped my mother, the most important person in my life equal to my father and second to God our Father.

thats is a really close to waking life dream!
very interesting.
I have had dreams come ture 90%
i say 90% because its like they are dealing with a situation and it happen in a diferent way in my waking life.
like one example, me and this guy were crushig on each other and we were about to start dating but i would except a relationship so soon. So i have a dream three times. the first one was about him dising me and he would say something harsh but the 2nd was worst and them the third was worst them the second. and in reall llike we just grow apart and never got together.
dream i have about my real life are similar or like like clues to figure out what may happen in real like.

That's good that your dreams help you make dicisions in your waking life. I know what you mean. My dreams don't blatantly give me answers as my mother's did but I have dreamt of things that were going on in my life and actually woken up ready to deal with them, even if I didn't exactly know how I was going to do it.

Hi,marianstallings, thank you for taing so much time telling us such such a long story. I heard dreams comes for reason. Sometimes we dream of something and find that they are true afterward, sometimes we find things turn out opposite to our dream. I have ever had such a dream: I attened a math examination, and the result turn out to be very very bad that I dare not let my parents know. the next day, when the teachers hand out our papers, I find my score is quite good! I think the reason why I had such a dream is because that I know the next day the teacher would hand out our paper, and I care the score so much and become nervous.

I've definitely had the bad test dream before. I would usually have it if I know I didn't do everything I could to prepare for the test. I always did well but I think I was subconsciencely telling myself not to take my smarts for granted and to prepare as much as possible because I won't be able to breeze through life like I breezed through school. I didn't listen to myself of course, I still did as little as possible where school was concerned but it bit me in the butt when I went to college. I couldn't keep up because of my bad study habits. I managed to get good grades in the end but I had a very tough time the first month or so.

So, you astral projected yourself to the school and stole the tea kitty money? Sounds like a confession to me.....is there a reward for the capture of the culprit? :-)
