How to protect our computer?

One month ago, my first computer broken up, I am quite sad about it. For she has been my family members only for three years. I think it is too young for her life.
Now I had a new one, and want it with me for more time. I am a people may use a computer for more than 12 hours in a day. So it is easy for the computer overused.
Is there anyway to keep a computer in a good condition?
How to make it?

maintaining your computer needs tender loving care, since you said that your computer is a SHE..anyway, most of the new pc's now have long lifespan, up-to 4-6yrs. but that depends on how fast technology changes..maybe next month new hardware will be released again..lol

To protect your computer install a good antivirus on your computer...I would suggest you to intall an AVG antivirus ...its available for free download on download.com....
then you can install a good fire wall on your system.....

i think at least, we can't view some unsafe websites.
then fix an anti varus software, killing varus every day. always let our computer in protection. with this way, i think our computer will work very well.
