US border agents detain Mexican troops

United States

Well once again Mexican troops have crossed into our border. This time our border agents processed them and then handed them back over to their commanding officer in Mexico. They told the border agents that they thought they were still in Mexico and did not realize they were in the US. This happens all the time. One time the Mexico troops held OUR border agents at gun point because they thought we had crossed over but it was once again their fault because they were in the US. WHy can't Mexico keep up with the boarder? you never see this kind of stuff happening with Canada. What should be do about to solve this problem?

I just wanted to specify something. You never hear stories about this with Canada, because their are much less illegal crossings between Canada and the USA. That border is considered to be the longest ungarded border in the world. However, since September 11, border patrols have increased for security reasons; nonetheless Canadians rarelly want to immigrate to the USA illegaly. Don't you think?

First of all, who do you think the Mexican police is looking for? Most probably illegal immigrants, criminals, smugglers... you name it. Second of all, according to CNN, last year alone their were more US border patrol crossings into Mexico, then Mexican patrols crossing into the US. It is a frequent problem, but both sides understand and are very linient. The head of the US border patrol said that he understand that Mexican patrols enter US territory without notice, because Americans also do it all the time when persuing people. Two years ago, their was a story about a group of US border patrol entering Mexico without knowing and firing on Mexican patrols thinking they were criminals. The US border patrol infured one. This story appeared on CNN once and was never spoken of again. So next time, do a little research. I would get your facts straight before insulting Mexican border patrols. This is nothing personal towards you, it is just that people usually only look at one side of the story.

Good fences make good neighbors. I have a fence all around my property. I have never experienced the situation of having an unwanted guest on my little piece of America. My fence tells everyone in my neighborhood and those that drive by that everything on the other side of the fence is mine and not yours. So to is the benefit of a boarder fence. We have a boarder with Mexico for a reason. If we do not want to protect the boarder then why have a boarder. Our boarder patrol would not have to be coming into contact with the Mexican Army if our boarder was clearly defined. Just as my property is clearly defined by my fence, our southern boarder would be clearly defined by a boarder fence.

I completely agree. Good fences make good neighbors. It would also help if the neighbors were stop coming into our house uninvited. If you know what I mean.
