Do you play any games that you would be embarrassed to tell people you play?

I know everyone has their persona that they show to other people, and we all have some things that we would be horrified if other people knew them about us. I was resoponding to a friends discussion and I admitted to playing games that I would hate if anyone else knew i played. Female gamers are already kind of looked down on by the gaming community, and most of the games I play are not the "girlie" type games. Games like Assasins Creed, Sports games etc. The more I can kill people the better.
So I had admitted that I am currently playing not one but all 3 of the Virtual Villager games. And Iam doing that now while being here on mylot. All 3 of them.
Are there any games you play that you wouldn't want others to really know about?

First off anyone who looks down on female gamers is probably afraid of them due in part to having never seen one before. When I used to play world of warcraft (I hate to admit I played it...) I knew a handful of female players and they were better at it than most males I knew that play. I think women in the gaming world bring about a perspective that most men either can't comprehend or don't expect, it makes us have to alter our way of thinking and we don't like that. ;)

I think a lot of it has to do with one of 2 factors. First one is that when gaming systems first came out not a lot of girls played. I was an oddball in high school because I was a gamer. But another factor is that sadly most "female" charecters in games are actually played by guys. When I played Dark age of Camelot, most of the guys didn't think I was really female till they heard me talk on teamspeak for the first time. One of the other issues is that most "female" charecters use sexuality to get things from males in game. its hard to take female gamers seriously when you see a majority doing things like tht.

It really depends. I am a serious gamer. You should have seen me running raids or in the battlegrounds lol. I would run over 100 player raids to get artifacts, or to get other missions done. It usually would take at least 4 hours to complete if everyone listened, more if they didn't. I remember one raid I got so mad and kicked a guy out of the raid becasue there was one artifact that I wanted and finally after waiting 5 hours it spawned. when we were just about finished with the raid he screwed it all up and told me to calm down it wasn't a big deal. So I threw him out of the raid and told him if he couldn't pay attention to the rules he wasn't going to be in another raid.
So if that tells you how serious I am about my games lol. Some games I will still get involved in the social aspect of it depending on what it looks like. There are some games that I play with my fiance that I will only play his char. and not make one of my own. So it really just depends on the game itself. And you are right most female gamers don't take it as serious as male gamers, but ther eare a few of us that do!

That's a very valid point. It does leave room for the serious female characters to surprise people though. But I would have to admit I have yet to find a female gamer who takes gaming as seriously as I do. I'm not saying they don't exist nor am I better than women at the games just that they're hard to find or they just don't care. Heh.
Do you find that it makes you less likely to utilize the social aspects of those types of game or do you still seek like minded players actively?
