Global Warming: What Do You Think?

There's a lot of discussion going on about the condition of our planet right now. Carbon emissions have damaged our ozone layer, the ice caps are melting, weather patterns are changing...
Do you think global warming exists? There's a lot of conflicting views I've found on the Internet. Some say global warming is complete nonsense, and others say we really need to take action soon if we want to save our planet.
I just want to hear your opinions about this matter. Should we really be concerned? Can humanity continue its current treatment of the environment? Will our planet finally collapse after so many years of abuse? Just say whatever is on your mind.

I don't think we should even deny that something is happening here. But I don't know how it happened, if it's the earth just doing it's own thing or if it's our fault or why it is happening. I mean, here, it snowed a few days ago, and it shouldn't snow until at least the end of November. Something is going on, and it's barely begun. It's probably going to be a lot worse than we think, grimly enough.

Really? It just snowed over here a week ago.
Strange. The earth wouldn't start these jumpy weather patterns right now when it hadn't for the so many years, would it? Humans probably have a big role in this situation.
Thanks for the opinion.

YES GLOBAL WARMiNG EXiSTS!!
People really need to be more cautious of what they're doing. The animals in Antarctica are losing their home because of us. Not only that, but the melting of ice caps could flood alot of our land too. This is O U R home we're talking about, and nobody realizes the damages that is being made. If you can carpool with someone to save gas, then do it! Sure, you may have the hottest ride, but once our home is gone, how cool would your ride be then?? If you save up on electricity, then save it! Dont leave lights and other electronics on if you're not using it.
Our world is falling apart and it doesnt take alot help save it. A little action from everyone could really help alot.

I honestly don't know. I think so, but I cannot tell for sure. That does not matter to me though. Either way we should be taking steps to help the environment, for the pure fact that releasing too much into our atmosphere, and polluting too much hurts humans anyways. Blackens our lungs, causes asthma, and causes higher cancer rates. Global warming or not, pollution is bad, so shouldn't we be trying to stop it anyways?

hi
global warming implies an increase in the temparature of our planet. Ice formation rate has considerably reduced. These are facts established by scientists, not by any types of leaders.
Water level has increased due to higher magnitude of ice melting.
Now, whether global warming is a threat or not, it depends how do we analyse the situations. Can we relate climatic changes with global warming? Can't we feel the pollution of the air? How is that air is polluted? How the emission of sulpher and carbon gases are absorbed in the air? Aren't these gases badly damaging our environment?
I think, the answer is yes. I have read few articles which demonstrated optimism by rubbishing off the impact of global warming. Fortunately, scientists are not ignoring the effects of global warming.
Now, whether global warming will eradicate human race or other living beings, that's not yet sure. But i think, the concept of global warming isn't a non sense.

i think we really have to be concern about this issues.. we really need to do something about this so that one day we will not loose our planet because of our negligence!!thanks!

Yes .Now Ozone has been damaged. And the ice caps are melting. And also it is true that weather patterns are changing. And it is true global warming exists. It will soon become a big problem to every one .I don't know how some say global warming is nonsense when people in some countries die due to warm. Many countries have to responsible for this.Even though some countries have agreed to reduce emission of carbon some major actors in the field still abusing the planet.

Hi PumpkinThePIE
Who says that Global Warming is completely nonsense?
It is a proven fact now a days and many scientists are also admitting that it is indeed one of the biggest threats for our world in the near future.Have not you seen the Icebergs of North and South pole melting down?

I dont think that there is any denying that something is going on with our weather, I think what is really in dispute is the cause. I have heard some say that it might be a cyclicle thing the earth goes through every few hundred thousand years and I've heard others say that its because of the polution. I prefer to think its a cyclicle thing because it would just be human arrogance to think we could detroy this planet in the short time we've been here and there's really no proof that polution is destroying the atmosphere(its just another thing that the press likes to abuse. I really dont think there is anything to concern yourself with as there is really nothing we can do about it either way.
Cheers, Tianna

Global warming probably does exist but the idea that it is a huge global crisis that threatens our very existence is nonsense. And there is scientific proof to support that fact. There is not on the other hand any scientific proof to show that global warming is a threat. Unfortunately, most people, in general, don't know that because they don't take the time to do the research and therefore take the word of politicians, environmentalists, and anyone else who stands, in some way to profit from the "global warming crisis." Everyone pushing the global warming agenda and those who are suckered in because of a lack of understanding on the whole matter, are now trying to blame man made CO2 for the whole "crisis." Well, science has shown that increased CO2 levels are a result of warming temperatures, not the cause. So, it stands to reason that not even man made CO2 is to blame for global warming. And the ice caps? So what. The ice caps have been melting for ages. They have a life cycle just like we do. They grow and then melt and new ones grow back in their place. Arctic sea ice melts during the summer, anyway. And, during the 1930's, the Arctic was warmer...before manmade CO2.
As far as the Antarctic goes, the ice on the continent is actually getting thicker. On a peninsula of the Antarctic, a small piece that sticks out into the ocean, the ice is melting....no big deal. And all this barely scratches the surface when compared to all the other misconceptions and fabrications that the alarmists have spread about global warming. But, how is it that so many people can be duped into believing these lies? By telling the lies over and over and over. Former Russian leader, Vladimir Lenin, said, "A lie told often enough becomes the truth." There are plenty of books and websites that offer the truth about global warming. But, here are a few that I've checked out:

It's not so much the media as it is the politicians...like Al Gore...and the environmentalists who think this junk up and feed it to everybody. All it takes is someone, especially someone with celebrity status, or money or power to distort the facts to support some pet cause or selfish agenda that means everything in the world to them but has no bearing or is of no serious importance to anyone else but by creating these lies, they fool everybody else into believing that their cause is of utmost priority and affects the whole world. In the book I mentioned earlier, it tells about the Kyoto Treaty, the pact the European Union created to get the industrialized nations to reduce their CO2 emissions. Well, the pact doesn't even pursue China, India, Mexico, and one of the Koreas(don't remember which one) and all four of these countries are among the top ten nations in the world that emit the most manmade CO2. And also, the European Unions CO2 emissions have increased, not decreased. I'm serious, there is more to it than what everybody sees on the surface and it has nothing to do with saving the world from any real or imagined environmental threat.

Hmm... interesting.
So I guess the media has been lying about the whole crisis? Not quite a surprise, I guess, when the media always does that.
I wonder when these "lies" originally surfaced. It seems like such a stupid thing to make up.

dognme,
Oooh, I looked at those sites with an open mind and started looking at the people and organizations that are in those sites and it's all pretty unbelieveable. I looked in the areas that I know more about and the arguments are extremely distorted.
Smoking isn't harmful? I know too many former smokers who would love to argue that one.
Hybrid vehicles cause more pollution because they use electricity that comes from coal? They have electric engines with a gas assist and while the vehicle is running, creates its own electricity.
I'm not saying that it's all lies, but there are some pretty far-fetched and simply untrue claims being made.
Much like the drowning polar bears in An Inconvenient Truth, but I don't know for sure that didn't happen, I've just seen some things that make me question that claim.
Happy MyLotting!

Its a matter of concientization. A Hot topic I know, despite the name, and yes, changes are everywhere you can see them. Ultraviolet rays, there are very high emissions recently, this is due to the damage on the layer... Find new ways to manufacture wich don't produce contamination: Electricity is one.

I think the earth goes through cycles and if there is global warming it was done by the earth and its surroundings and had very little to do with man. There certainly are no effects of global warming around here. It isn't nearly as hot in the summer as it used to be and we get more snow than ever and have colder winters than we ever did. I think global warming is blown way out of proportion by folks like Al Gore in order to scare us and make more money off of us.

You think the earth is doing this by itself? Strange idea, but perhaps it is crazy enough to be true. And if so, what would be causing it?

There is not really anything strange about it, PumpkinThePie. It's scientific fact that the earth goes through these changes and cycles, and has been for centuries. It's all a part of nature, but most people don't realize it because of the distortions and lies that the "alarmists" preach.

sorry to interrupt ur optimistic view about the global warming..iam not a cynic..its been proved that there is a hole in the ozone layer and its widening every year..reason:chloro flouro carbon (cfc)...and its said that the hole has formed over antarctica..u all know that ozone layer protects us from harmfull uv rays and when they fall over those ice on that continent, they will melt...yup the icebergs has been melting for centuries ..u can ask wats the big deal? well the thing is it will melt but the rate of melting will be much higher than the rate of condensating(not sure of that word)and the sea levels will rise and the low lying areas will sink....thats another story...as for global warming, they said carbon dioxide has the tendency to reflect heat and when a huge blanket of co2 is near the cloud cover and the heat which usually r reflected by the earth surface cannot escape and are reflected back to earth rather than allowing them to go to space...and it adds to the already unstable global warmth of the earth...and which inturns makes the icebergs to melt at a much faster rate...to say it in one line, our future generations r doomed untill some miracle happens....iam not a scientist or some kinda researcher...u can ignore my views as those of mentally unbalanced person..i dont care

I'm not sure if Global Warming exists or not. It's been proved in history that our planet fluctuates its global temperature and it's really nothing to worry about. Then again, I'm sure all the emissions, pollution, etc can't be good for the planet. It does have its negative impact on it and we should respect Earth because it is what ultimately gives us life. This is the way I see it: It's better safe than sorry. I'd rather discover later on that Global Warming is a myth and all our precautions were unnecesarry than discover it's real and have it be too late to bring restoration to the environment.
