Uh-oh. The dreaded Prop. 8 debate.

I'm finally an adult and of legal age to vote and I couldn't be more thrilled; especially since this is probably one of the most controversial presidential election in history. It's a crucial time. I heard somewhere that Proposition 8 is the most wage earning proposition in history. People everywhere from all over are sending money to support it or oppose it. My town is more of a conservative town and I see "Vote Yes on Prop. 8" signs around every corner. You think I'm kidding? I kid you not. They're everywhere. They're invading, really. But these signs haven't swayed my vote in the least. No siree. I'm still voting No on it. I was just curious to how everyone else was voting and what your reasons for it were? This is meant for a debating thread, so I'm going to debate with you. Please don't get all crazed when it happens.

Well, I'm not from California, so I can't participate. I can, however, throw in my two cents. Prop 8 is a horrible and unconstitutional piece of work, and I find it sad how so many are willing to oppress the rights of others just because their religious bigotry leads them to believe that being gay is wrong. If I could, I would not only vote no on Prop 8, but I would wear anti-Prop 8 paraphernalia until after the vote.

I agree %100 with you. I think people try to push their religious beliefs on people way too much. It is a religious thing that not everyone follows and they shouldn't be forced to oblige with it just because some other people don't agree with it. And as for "keeping the sanctity and tradition alive in marriage" as most people reason with, they lost the sanctity and tradition when they started allowing divorce to occur. That's no excuse. Good response! :)
