The McCain campaign (and its supporters') message in a nutshell

"OMG OBAMA'S A SOCIALIST/COMMUNIST/RADICAL/LEFTIST/LIBERAL/MARXIST/ELITIST/MUSLIM/TERRORIST/SEPARATIST/BLACK LIBERATIONIST/MESSIANIC CULT FIGURE/ANTICHRIST WHO HATES AMERICA!!!!!!!
Quick, throw a few more labels on him, SOMETHING's gotta stick!"
***
But they don't stick. You keep having to move from one label to another as they all fall flat. The funny thing is, some of these labels even contradict each other.
The politics of character assassination have failed, and the aim of this election is now to crush McCain's deplorable strategy so badly that these political tactics will forevermore be associated with failure. The country will be better for it.

Well of all those labels I just agree with one (kinda). Socialist. But then my views are pretty conservative so to me he does look socialist. I will not say he is an outright socialist but he does have socialist leanings. I think it is all about perspective. To some he will be too liberal or socialist. To some he is not liberal enough (yep I have heard some people say that) and to some he is in the middle. It just depends on the persons personal views.
As for the rest of those labels, well some crazies are going to say a lot of stupid things. It is an electoin year. I do not recall McCain actually calling him the anti christ. McCain can't help what ever day people say anymore than Obama can. I am sure both candidates would not endorse a lot of what we all say here on mylot on their behalf.

I have a friend who thinks he's the "dark leader" according to Nostrodomus. I keep telling her that people make things up to prove their point and word things to fit what they want them to say.

You forgot he's called a celebrity and a good speaker.
Nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh repeatedly called Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) "Obama Osama" and "Osama Obama" during the July 11 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show. In criticizing a July 10 speech by Obama in Eatonville, Florida, Limbaugh added "Osama" to the senator's name seven times.

Oh yeah, forgot celebrity, thanks.
Last night, I happened to listen to some right-wing talk radio (Steve Malzberg)...they criticized McCain for not making some of the crappier smears a bigger part of his campaign, saying that if he made an attack out of the "typical white person" nonsense DURING the third debate, he would have won the election right there, lol.
But the reason I bring that up is because I heard his tax plan referred to as "reparations". No, of course there's no racial aspect to the attacks on his tax plan. Oh no, how DARE I even pose that question (as I did recently in MyLot, getting a lot of indignant right-wingers' faux outrage)?

I rarely hate people but I actually hate Rush. He really makes me sick, I can't shut his show off fast enough when it's on.
Can you believe that McCain is running another celebrity commercial? What kind of nerve does he has with his VP acting like a celebrity?

So conservative talk radio is complaining that is he did not use more smear, the democrats are complaining that he used too much. That sound about right?

Political campaigns are often ugly and untruthful Why would this one be any different? Will the country be better with Obama? Don't know. Nor, actually, do I care. Right after the winner is named is when I will stop caring. But, I will be happy I do not have to see and hear any more political BS from both parties for a while

"Will the country be better with Obama? Don't know. Nor, actually, do I care. Right after the winner is named is when I will stop caring."
In other words, you don't care now, but after the election is over, you will stop caring.
...huh?

You betcha! I care only enough to exercise my right to vote. After the election is over I don't give a fig who has won nor what they do to the country for the most part. I'm almost 58, there is darned little either one of these bozos can do to me or for me

I saw an incredible commercial last night, I wish I could remember who did it. All it was was a white screen with green letters and it went something to the effect off.."What if instead of 58% of the people voting (screen changes) 100% of the people voted?(screen changes) What if everyone cared what happened on Nov. 5? (screen changes)What if 100% of the people held our representatives accountable? (screen changes) Not just on Nov. 4th (screen changes) But every day of the year?" It said a few more things but you get the point.
I'd like to believe American is still for the people, by the people, but "the people" seem to lose interest after election day, and that's part of the problem.
As far as nothing sticks, it hasn't stuck because there's little if no truth behind any of it. McCain ran a campaign much like the one that was run against him in 2000, only he didn't get the same results that Bush did. IT should've been a sign to him early on that the people are fed up.

You forgot the early non-McCain ones CLEAN and WELL SPOKEN. McCain's whole campaign has stunk of desparation. While Obama stands and states his stance on the issues and McCain just says that sucks because this, or even better ( and here's some additional labels for you) he's DANGEROUS. I'm tired of the fear mongering I just heard that my financial future is "under siege" by the democrats. I wonder how our soldiers feel about something real and terrible to them being used for over dramatic propaganda.

All I can say is if Obama does get elected get ready for WAR.
Yes, right here on our American soil. He wants to be like Hitler and rule the world
when in fact he has no idea how to run a state much less the whole United States.
After all how can he rule states that don't even exist? What was it he said 57 states?
We may end up with a president who doesn't even know where Washington D.C. is located.
He only speaks of Washington and that's on the west coast.
He is just doing this to go down in history for being the first 1/2 black to be a president. He doesn't realize what will be expected of him nor how to perform these expectations. So get ready because we are headed in the WRONG direction if he gets his way.

Can you please tell me what WAR we are supposed to get ready for? And can you please tell me which side you will be on?
Can you please tell me in what way Barack Obama wants to be like Hitler?
Can you please tell me about Barack Obama's plans to rule the world?
Where is your evidence that Barack Obama doesn't know where Washington D.C. is located?
Can you please tell me what direction the country is in right now if Barack Obama is going to lead us in the WRONG direction?
In conclusion, can you please tell me why you publish such foolishness and ignorant smears against someone who you haven't even studied?
This is the first time I've ever said this here on myLot. But you are a fool. A stupid fool.
How dare you compare Barack Obama to Adolph Hiltler?
You are the worse.
I don't care how you respond. I will never have any respect for you.

Yes, I already know fear-mongering is all people like you can say. That's pretty much the point I was making.

I was comparing Obama's adoration by his followers to the adoration given by Hitler by the followers, and by the media loving him. And he is so far left that he will want to overturn the pro life laws in those states that elected then, OH and he is a socialist and he is a member or was a member of a left learning sort of communist type party as well as his former preacher hated white people and he did not protest while he was a member or said he would quit in disgust.
Sounds like someone who I do not want to see America's next president.

She would have hit a homerun if she would have written 2 paragraphs.
I just don't understand the purpose of these types of statements.
The only purpose I can think of is to divide the American people and to make people hate Barack Obama.

Thanks for giving a perfect example of the kind of person my original post described. Let's see how you scored:
messianic cult figure
socialist
communist
hates America
racist (replacing "black liberationist" with that)
That's five. Not bad for one paragraph.

Aren't politics fun? People get so worked up over it.. I love reading and listening to people go back and forth on issues. Here is what will happen.
1) Only half the people will actually vote that got so worked up about it.
2) The guy who wins the election.. will not accomplish anything.
3) Things will get alot worse over the next 4 years.
4) Then the guy will get re-elected with his promises.
I think I have seen this all before somewhere.
No but seriously.. it's the hope that we have someone that can make a difference that makes everyone so passionate.
Maybe when Obama wins .... he might just make a difference?
