i have 1 shark, 1 kissing gourami, and 1 gappi!!
i wanted to add a few more fishes to my fish tank! i was wondering which ones to add because i which ever fish i put in my tank...they die in 5-6 days!!
i suspect my gourami for this!!!
it even killed the oscars!!!
can anyone suggest fishes suitable to share the water with the above mentioned fishes... or is mercy killing of the gourami the best way to preserve my other fishes!!!??

Dear Friend there are some basic things which you need tounderstand before installing your aquarium. Do you have the tank big enough to hold a big population ? have you kept the tank at a position where you are getting natural light ? Because fish they require natural light apart from artifical light provided by electric bulb. You need to have natuaral aquatic vegetation in your tank in abundance!
For this either you can purchase plants from fish dealer or you can directly either get them from some ponds or river. But then they need specific type of cleaning before adding to the tank, which I am going to tell at the end.
Now coming to the selection of fish ! You need to have a balance of the fishin your tank that is you need tokeep surface feeder like Sword tail, Black mollys etc which will feed from the surface and the bottom feeders like tigers which will feed the bottom waste materials and thus keep your tank clean. Middle feeders like Dog gouramies and kising Gouramies will take care of middle part of your tank clean.
Keep some good gravels at the bottom and add some nice big stones of natuarl shpapes from eithr brought from river or pond so that fish can have their temporory shelter in or in between them.
Keep the fish always in pairs, first thing you need to do is arrange the pair for your single fishes so that they will be busy with the companion of their own type.
Don't over feed your fish feed them once or twice at a fixed time and have two to three types of fish food and keep on changing the food so that they will get a balanced feed.
Quarantine the fish before adding them to your tank and treat them chemically. Normally I used to dip the new fishes in mild solution of potassium permanganate for two minutes before leaving them to quarantine tank or bucket !Samw way wash te plants also with potassium permanganate solution and wash it with plain water before setting them in your pot!
Add a pinch of salt to the newly changed water in your aquarium it always helps in keeping the fishhealthy. Provide areator and make it a routine to run it atleast once in morning and once in evening for one hour time each.
Be careful in winters as you need to keep the water warmby either using the heaters meant for aquariums or by keeping the light on over night!
I also stayed at Pune for few years and I am quoting my experiences I had at Pune only!
I think wth this basic guidelines you can have a nice Aquarium with little mortalities.
For heaven sake don't kill Kissing Gouramy it is not at all a harmful fish get hem or her a pair immidiately, this should serve the purpose!
Wish you all the best !!! And let me know what is your experience after adopting these steps.

Wow, I'd love to have a shark myself! I've been eyeing a few manta rays I saw in the pet store, but they're just too expensive. It would really be cool to have an aquarium full of those stingers though! Anyway, you should just buy another aquarium for the gourami if it can't live without other fishes.
