I am always amazed by the universe when I was young and inquisitive. Yup, this question was one of the things I raised before in my mind. I even tried staring at the stars every night, searching for Venus, Mars, and luckily I was able to see Saturn(on telescope,.

I think the universe was purposely built that huge to make sure that whenever a human being thinks that he is the greatest or he as achieved the greatest thing in his or her life, there would always be something bigger to compare too.
This is to make sure that humans do not get the habit of showing off to others and boasting so much about what they have as there is always something bigger and that for the bad part of it.
As to the good part of it, the vastness of the universe ensure that humans would always try to rise up to the challenges in life as there are always something more and bigger to go for in life and do not just sit there be contempt with what they already have.
Anyway, that is my opinion and I am sure that many others would have their own opinions on this matter.
Cheers!

i think that universe is not infinite because there will be end and edges of universe .in my view universe is vast and very wide because universe birth was taken by big explosion whether it is taken due to explosion of nova or explosion of black hole it doesnt matter because explosion was so soundfull that space was heated and started to expanding because of the heat.
