I love Japanses food - but my favourite is Sushi with rice and seaweed. I can eat it endlessly. Sashimi is also very tasty and the wasabi really gives a kick to the meal! Apparently the main idea in the preparation of sushi is the preparation and fermentaion of fish with salt and rice.
Do you like Japanese food - and if so, what is your favourite between Sushi and Sashimi?

Sushi wins over sashimi, for me! I just like it with that sweet-with-vinegar-rice than without, you know? I guess it's because having raw fish alone makes the roof of my mouth feel... weird. Yeah, that's crazy talk -- I probably had bad tuna that day! LOL
And that first mouthful of sushi (I prefer maki sushi) is always heavenly. Like, I can finish that entire wooden platter of maki! But unfortunately, I never do because when I get to that fourth roll cut, it starts to taste - how do we say it, "nakakaumay", like, I've had enough already. I guess that's why I love sushi so much -- the first few mouthfuls are always amazing! :)

hi, nilugo.
i like sushi but love sashimi. i guess that's because sashimi is lighter in the stomach and i can eat lots of it.
i love japanese food eventhough i have never learned to use chopsticks.
have a nice day!

I prefer sashimi. I can do without all of the rice since it is so filling. If I am trying to make a meal of it I usually get sushi so that I don't have to eat so much of it to get full. I love Japanese food. It is so light.......I have grown to appreciate foods that don't put me in a coma when I finish eating!

Isn't sashimi a type of sushi? I always thought that it was...Anyway, I only like eating tuna and salmon sashimis. I've tried other kinds of fish and squid as well but I'll stick with tuna and salmon. I love spicy tuna salads and salmon sashimi with tartar sauce. Yum! I love sushi rice rolls as well but they make me full all the time.

oh my wait do i have to choose? lol. oh tough one.. i love both actually but if i would really have to choose between the two, i'd pick sushi coz it has always been the easiest to buy in the restaurant especially when i'm in a hurry. it's my favorite to go food. on the other hand, i also love sashimi! it's what i prefer eating whenever we dine in. i'm now imagining sashimi with the oozing wasabe kick in my mouth. but i still choose sushi.. i just ate 8 pieces 7hours ago.

Of course, I love Japanese food, especially shushi and sashimi. I am fish lover so all types of seafood topping is great. So sashimi goes very well with me. For preparation of sushi rice, you have to season with vinegar, little salt and sugar that's how I prepare. I don't ferment fish with salt and rice. Ferment vinegared fish is also delicious, especially with chirashi shushi - mixed with variety of ingredients, it can look colourful and mouth-watering too.

I absolutely adore Japanese food, and if you get a chance to visit Japan, go ahead and eat all the Japanese food you can have. Trust me, the real thing is wayyyyyyyyy better than any so called "authentic Japanese restaurant" in your country. Going back to your question, I prefer sashimi over sushi, just because of the rice. I love tuna and salmon sashimi, dipped in wasabe dilluted kikkoman soy sauce, I can eat it all day. Heavenly.
