I think i would trace back all my transactions and i would even go through the surveilance cameras if there are any before i decide what to do.
Well, if i could really not trace where the money went then i guess i'll just have to tell my immediate supervisor and just pay for it. I think its really the best thing to do because if we won't pay for it someone would have to pay for it and i think it is not their fault. I guess i'll just have to be more careful the next time and just look at is as another lesson to be learned. I have actually many people who were on this situation and i think the best thing to do before doing anything is to investigate or ask for help to your fellow employees or supervisor before paying for it, and i think it would be better to tell them about it rather than do it in secret. But it actually depends on what kind of job environment you work for, i think if you for for a very sensitive environment like a bank that act cannot be tolerated because honesty is really very important if you work for a financial institution. I guess it just important for us to maintain our good reputation when we work,.

hi mercuryman.
if as huge as that is missing, there might be an error with the machine, or maybe i have punch a double transaction. I will ask the manager on duty to double check all my transactions since it is a big amount of shortage. i will also check if the money given to me at the beginning of the day is exact, and the changes between me and the manager is exact also. checking the transactions will help track the shortage and hopefully i'll find it :)
take care

First of all i would like to double check my whole day's trasanction summary for making sure that my calcuations is absolutely right. If so, then, i will analyze each and every trasanction bit by bit. A careful observation to this scenario and recalling your memory for the day's trasanction may reveal a way to fix this, else i will recover this amouth from my pocket.

i wouldnt cover it up.. i would march right up to my boss and tell him i dont know where it is and that i didnt take it.. most jobs would just keep an eye on you from then on and see if it keeps happening to figure out if your guilty
