Celebrations to others are very meaningful as individuals and as a community. To be able to live a spiritual paradigm means being able to involve in religious perspective in participating even in an aspects of society that are not religious in nature. Obviously halloween is not traditional to the other believers like the CHURCH OF GOD or in muslims holiday but doesnt have to be a celebration of old pagan religion. I doubt if most celebrants even know the pagan religions that started it. Since i have not studied Islam as much as the other sect, i will of course defer to better experts, but i don't really understand why halloween could not be pursued in a social vevenue like a backyard or a block party, that would give an opportunity to kids/children to learn that they should continue to be aware of their spiritual heritage even when they are engaging in social events that are not religious in nature.

Halloween, I beleive is Catholic, isn't it? all hallows eve before all saints day? all the same, I prefer Halloween as the modern version of Samhain. the old Pagan festival. what's wrong with a Pagan festival. to a Pagan such as myself it is a time for drawing loved ones close, and remembering the ancestors and loved ones that have gone before us, and showing them respect and honour. it is also the festival of the last harvest, when in farming communities, before we were able to buy imported food all year round, the healthiest animals would be selected to keep over winter, when food was scarce, and the rest slaughtered, and the meat preserved for the hard times ahead. there would be a feast of those parts of this harvest that wouldn't keep for long, such as the offal. so it is a great time of community, family, and honouring the ancestors, while being grateful for what we have now, and hoping for enough to sustain us through winter. surely NO SANE PERSON can see evil in that. all the same, Samhain, All Hallows Eve, whichever is nearest to your own spiritual beliefs, is in fact religious in nature.
