My son has an awful virus on his laptop!!!

you cannot load any web pages , they just keep coming up dsnerror, the wireless is fine it is showing that it is working. A stupid bubble keeps popping up and it says that there is a security risk and do i want to scan. SO I opened the actual virus scanner (avg) and it shows no viruses. it is almost like it was taken over. The virus scan scans all right but it shows that nothing is activated or anything. it is so messed up. I cannot get online to be able to try and fix it or anything. Can I use my computer and download something onto a disk to fix his laptop or is it useless?? His computer is useless now, you cannot get online or anything. and that stupid bubble really is messed up.

I am trying this now. I have a thumb drive that I am going to download it too and then onto his computer I hope it works.

I have tried them all and none of it works. Still no pages loading and that stupid pop up bubble that says system at risk!!! I guess this laptop is shot. If we cannot get online it is useless. We have wireless broadband and have used it fine for the last year , just started having this problem since last night.

If you are using AVG 8 than I would suggest that you download or buy Bit Defender 2009 as AVG updating their antivirus definitions. Bit defender 2009 has some great features and does not slow down the computer like AVG and Norton does.

Oh yeah. Thats not a virus. And thats the reason your antivirus can't catch it. Its a spyware or malware. You have to download a software to remove that malware. You can download lavasoft's AdAware. Or any other software that people recommend you. If that dont work then final solution is to re-install the OS.

the best way to get the computer back is simply meet with an engineer to assist you in formatting the whole computer , but mind you you may loose the whole information on that system but your computer will be safe.. it happened to mine too and i did the same and right now am using it to communicate with you that's all!

I agree with the post about trying your system restore first to go back to before you got the virus. AdAware might find the problem, it is worth a try. I am surprised AVG shows nothing, was it up to date?
If you are stuck, you should go to the freedomlist forum or one of the security sites where they have security experts to help you.
http://www.freedomlist.com/forum/ and start your own topic in the PC Protection section. You will be required to submit scans of the computer and they should be able to advise you on how to clean your particular problem.

I guess...your PC has been infected with "AntiVirus 2008" or "IE Antivirus". It's like a legit AntiVirus software but instead keeps on popping the fake warning to you. So far I haven't found any automatic way to clean it back. Only have the manual way. Check the "msconfig" file, stop the startup. Then delete it off from the Registry. So far, only that method managed to settle this problem. But I can't gives you what's the file name that you need to clean because 3 times before this, I found the different file names. how bout if u change ur antivirus ? ive heard from many ppl that it wasnt a strong antivirus, but for some of them r works too tho. im using a BitDefender antivirus, which is a great and strong one. u can try to look for it n buy it if u interested on it. i can recommend u this, becoz it protected me from many kind of local viruses, malwares, trojans, n much more.
or if u want to, just change it to another antivirus different than that..
