Have you ever received an anonymous call on your mobile? Yesterday I received a call on my mobile late at night. It showed the prefix of someone who lives in Italy. When I answered the call the person hang up. I sent a text message asking who he or she is, but I did not receive a reply. I tried to call but an operator said that the number does not exist. I don't have any relative or friend in Italy! Have you ever experienced something like this? © ronaldinu 2008

I have received anonymous calls - but they are all from phone companies trying to make me sign up for their schemes. I hardly ever use my mobile, and there are only four people in the whole world who have the number for it. I leave it on my desk most of the time, and when I check I find 'missed calls' which have not come from my family members. I never phone them back, as I know they are from phone companies and I'm not interested!

We seem to get anonymous calls on my wife's mobile constantly and it's always at some obscure time of night! They just ring and then sit their quietly on the other end or say hello over and over again. I am patient the first time but if they continue to call and call (which they seem to do a lot of the time) then I will eventually call them back and get quite hostile at them and tell them to stop calling immediately. This usually does the trick! lol. I don;t know if it's a mix up of numbers or whether they are twisted idiots that just get off on hearing a female voice. Either way it annoys me. We haven't had one for a week or so now so hopefully that will be the end of it.

I hope that you get sorted it out. If it continues consider changing your number because it is freaky and annoying to receive such calls. Thanks for your feedback

I do sometimes and from the other state.I think they had just mistakenly dialed my number. They were asking for a name that were stranger to me.So i suspect they thought that my number were the names they mention.

Lastweek I got a call from anonymous number to my landline number. He started with my name and claims that I have 80000 due in barclays credit card. Actually, I dont have a credit with that bank. I clearly explained him that I dont have card and he started asking about my profession details. I disclosed nothing to him. Strange persons are calling and asking our details. Really strange?

Maybe it was a kid messing around with the phone. I have had my nephew call someone in Indiana before and I live in KY. I apologized to the lady after I got the phone away from him. He tried to call other places many times. Sometimes kids get lucky and a call goes through or it could have been someone realized they dialed the wrong number and hung up as you were answering.

It often happens to me. Most of them are junk calls. It can be called from an insurance representative and I never understand where they have my phone number. It's quite annoying to me. And some even call me at midnight and that's so terrible.
I love China

First of all, I wouldn't try to call anyone that showed they were from Italy, I don't know anyone in Italy, and it could cost a fortune for making that phone call. I get phone calls from numbers I don't recognize, usually I don't call them back, if its important, they can leave a message on my voice mail, then I might call it back if I know who it is.

Hi there ronaldinu
Wow that is weird. I think I have probably had people call then hang up and the number has been withheld so I can't call them back but I don't think I have ever had a number to call back on only to be told it doesn't exist. Maybe they just called the wrong number and they were calling from a call box!

I let my voice mail answered mostly. I don't have a cell but if I do I will let voice mail answer it too. If the caller doesn't leave a message then I won't call back. There are a lot of spammers going on, be careful. if you use a cell phone I heard they can make you pay for long distance call they make.
I did answer phone calls now and then but if the other side hung up, I will hang up the right second too. I really can't spend too much time for the hassle when I have enough to do to survive right now.

I have received a couple of them and when I call back it was wrong number. I received one last week, it was a guy from England. We begin talking and realized that he has relatives in the area that I lived. He called me back on saturday night just to see how I was. It is funny but you know maybe it was a wrong number or a private number which the operator does not want to give out. Sometimes when they realized that it is a long distance called he/she does want to bother with it.

Yes, I received a call from someone who's telling me to report for the scheduled job interview for me. I was so shocked because I never applied to other company after I was hired by the company I am in now. I told the lady who called me what company are they, she said it was a call center in Manila but surprisingly I'm situated in Baguio.
