I am so enthralled by Stephen King's writing and absolutely love his books, even the ones written under other pen names. No one does horror like he does but many of his books are also about human nature and tell great stories. Some of my other fav authors are Dean Koontz, John Saul, Nora Roberts and Frank Peretti. How about you?

I wholly agree with you about Stephen King. His ability to write characters is so completely amazing and he develops them in a way that makes them completely believable. Even the stranger, more surreal stories have a level of depth that few authors can really achieve. It's pretty fantastic and I certainly emulate his writing style in my own stories. Now granted, I am still an aspiring author who has yet to publish, but it does, nonetheless, give me a lot of inspiration to model my style of writing after someone as talented as Stephen King.

Well, I don't think emulating Stephen King is a bad thing. In fact, in his book On Writing, he tells those who wish to write to read, read, read and take in different styles in order to find what works best for you. I wish you luck with your book or whatever venture you are pursuing.

Hello Robin I enjoy King as well as Dean Koontz and John Saul. I think what they write is my favorite genre of fiction. I think you are right about Stephen King. Many of his stories, though of unusual circumstances, are still about real people dealing with those circumstances. His older book The Stand is a great piece of work. Because I could see something like a superflu actually happening. People banding together in the aftermath is the logical next step.

That's one that I haven't read yet. There are a few of his that I haven't. I liked the book that he and Peter Straub wrote together, the Talisman. I want to read it again as it's been a few years since I've read it.

I do like Stephen King, but my favorite is Tony Hillerman, once I start reading one of his books I have a hard time putting it down. I also like nicholas Sparks.

Stephen King is among my favorites as well. I also enjoy Anne Rice. I love the Vampire chronicles. I am not so sure about her new book though. I guess time will tell.

You know, I'm going to have to read her books. I have yet to read them and I know they are very popular. Another author to add to my must read list. Thanks for reminding me about her.
