I have been wondering how you guys behave when traveling. I have seen people who used to eat while the bus is running, some also spend their time sleeping, while others are silent but I do think they are thinking, and there are also some who use to keep watch of the surroundings, just like me. When traveling, I used to keep watch with the surrounding, I used to sit near the window to feel the cool breeze of the air especially if we pass a creek/or any forms of water. Traveling keeps me awake and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. But it also make me dizzy especially when I am all alone and nobody to talk to and the window are close.
How about you guys, how do you behave when traveling? What other behavior of people while traveling have you seen?

I usually drive, so while transiting from one place to another, I have to watch the roads for other road users so that I can reach my destination safely. If by traveling you mean taking a bus or coach, then I do this mostly when I am on holiday overseas, and traveling overland to my next destination. On holidays, I seldom sleep if I am on the coach. I don't really understand why the majority do whenever the journey is a pretty long one. For me, I like to stay awake with a map in hand, and follow the route the coach takes and try and identify where I am on the map. I will look out the window and enjoy the scenery outside. Even if it is endless miles of rolling hills, pastureland or forests (like in driving through the national parks), I still appreciate the view because I learn something about the country observing the scenery along the way. If there are interesting things to see or the scenery is spectacular, I will whip out my camera and take some shots. It's never boring for me even if the route is long and we are on the coach for many hours.

Hello Lexus,
thanks for sharing your experience, well same with you, one reason i can't sleep and I would never sleep while riding is safety. It amazed me how you enjoyed your ride. Bringing a map and taking a picture while on the ride is something i have never tried doing. Well Philippines is not a big place anyway and aside from that, I have not travel miles away from my birth place. It would be a good idea to take pictures while traveling, if only I have a digital camera then I would do the same like you do. Well I feel bored at times especially when I don't have anybody to talk to because all of them except the passenger are sleeping. But I still won't sleep whether I am bored or not.

I travel on a plane sometimes and then I like have sit by the window so I can see out at take off and landing time. Most of all I love to travel by train and then in the day time I sit by the window to enjoy seeing the passing scenery. During the night time I like to sleep in a comfortable compartment. Often on buses I get chatting to other passengers, travelers from different countries. I really like it when I get th opportunity to speak to the local people. I respect their culture and in an country that has a religion I find out about that. Like it Israel the clothing was normal for me but in Jordan I had to cover my arms and legs with. I saw the dress style of the local ladies and copied that a bit. Since I was attacked in the Maldives on a lonely beach I have become more aware of safety. I watch around me and do try to stay in my accommodation after dark. When I was in the USA I had a train that was five hours late and it arrived at midnight. So I was given a free taxi ride from the train company. I act very grateful for such kindness when that sort of thing happens. I am an independent traveler and I care about the environment supporting all conservation efforts.

I have never try riding on a plane, but I would hope soon I would. I am not fun of traveling, but I can say I am an independent traveler, I used to go to a new place all alone, especially if I have very important matters to get done, and I think having a companion would be much expensive.
Here, there happen bombing in buses and bus terminal areas so I tried to be awake while on the ride. I tried to be observant.
Thanks for sharing your experience, by the way, from what country are you? It seems you have been to a lot of places. As for me, I only travel when I need to. There are still many places in Philippines I have not visited. I have not also tried going out of my country.

It seems to me that you are very comfy when traveling. You said you eat Mc Donalds Burger, do you eat inside the bus while it is running, or you eat at any stop over station where there is available Mc Donald's burger?
